If you live in an non-LLU area then avoid O2 Home Access like the plague!

They have had problems with slow speeds for months and despite promising to fix it several times, it does not improve.

Check the O2 customer forums and see for yourself, pages of complaints regarding the poor service provided.

Such a shame when O2 are highly rated for their LLU service... the Access package is horrible.

I swapped to O2 from Vispa about a year ago as I realised that £25 a month was not good value for money any more! Am paying £7.50 for a 8Mb LLU connection(3.5k from exchange) and the average speed is 5-6Mb with no download limit. Only had to call customer support once to help with the correct log-on details for my Netgear router when first setting up and they took about a minute to sort it out. Not had any problems at all with speed and haven't had a dropped connection for about six months. Well done O2 you have a very happy customer.

Title: Dreadful
Like the last reviewer, could no longer cope with constant drop outs and having to reset my router, speeds down to dial up from the afternoon all night. Absolutely shocking and no interest from their 'customer service' dept. Still had 2 months to go but i've already changed to IDnet which so far is brilliant so we'll see how long it lasts.......don't go near o2 if you want a trouble free internet life

I have been with O2 on thier 8MB package since just after Xmas 08. Things started out okay, but over the past 6 months I have had nothing but drop outs. In fact i can set my watch by them. From 4pm to about 6 pm forget it! For the rest of the time its pot luck.

So have decided to move with 2 months left on my contract - sorry but couldn't take it anymore.

So far I have not been pleased with anything that Sky broadband have given.

I have been calling for 3 months straight and I still have the same issues.

First of all the modem/router they send you is horrible unless you live in a house with 3 rooms. I live in a modern detatched house with walls made out of paper and I'm getting 30% signal strength and 99% to 2 neighbours on my laptop a couple rooms away.
I have asked for a new router and they do not stock any other routers. I have asked for just a stand alone modem so I could use my old router, they do not stock these either. If I was to go buy my own modem/router, they would not be able to give me any broadband support.

Second of all is the issue with latency. I game with friends online that are just streets away from me and I get lag. This is wired so it's nothing to do with my signal strength.

Thirdly I get nasty lag spikes and frequently the connection will drop out, again nothing to do with signal strength as I'm wired at this time.

There has been many other issues but I have either sorted them myself (being an I.T Technician) or they have finally managed to resolve the problems. I wasn't even getting near the download speed I should've been when I first signed up, I had to call up to recieve what I was paying for instead of some 2nd hand connection.

The 3 problems above I have been chasing up for 3 months often having to wait 15 minutes to get to 1st line tech support, then a further 45 minutes for the customer solutions team. When they say they will call you back in up to 72 hours, that often means 5 to 7 days.

Signing up to sky broadband was just a case of calling up, to upgrade sky broadband is just a case of calling up.
To cancel sky broadband you have to go through agro, right a letter that has to be posted (not e-mailed) then wait for a reply.

All in all utter rubbish. I can't understand why sky are even allowed to have a broadband service

Well what can I say, the speed is good up until 4PM where it just goes to rock bottom. I mean I have had faster speeds from my AOL Dial up connection than Sky during these times.

On average this happens at 4PM which apparantly is their 'peak time' and ends at around 1AM. During this time the broadband speed plumits to around 0.1 which is just ridiculous.

I phoned them up asking why this was, they said because I am an 'off net' customer the slow speed is because I am getting my connection from BT. And that only 'on net' sky users will get the fast Sky broadband.
Well I then thought what the hell am I paying for then? Why did they not tell me this when I signed the contract with them? They mentioned nothing about this.

I am so outraged at their disgusting internet speed.
My advise to you all brothers is STAY THE **** AWAY FROM SKY BROADBAND.

Here are the results from Speedtest:

Date 09/11/09 18:19:52
Download speed 42.44 Kbps (0.04 Mbps)
Upload speed 363.64 Kbps (0.36 Mbps)
Ping: 450 ms

Sky Broadband.
What a joke.

Title: gone bad
ive been with o2 acess since end of june 2008,at first the service was very good and continued to be until december 2008 when i first started to see slower speeds in the evening. but since march 2009 the service has gone downhill faster than eddie the eagle,i have now had enough and have got my mac which i have just given to naims(fingers crossed)the good bit about o2 is the price and apparent unlimited downloads but trying to use the internet after 5pm is very frustrating, any video content is a non starter, as the service is at the moment i couldnt reccomend o2 acess to anybody which is a shame as it was very good to begin with,i can only score the service on what it is at the present and not the past.

I have just moved from Orange and their poor customer service. Now on O2 and getting twice the speed that I had with Orange. I am a long way from the exchange, so have to settle for a slower speed than most, so this increase is most welcome. I like the fact that there is an 0800 number to ring for support.
When I had a problem with Orange, I complained and they said "If you don't like it leave" So I did.
Great service so far with O2, kept well up to date with texts during the changeover, thumbs up from me.

I joined Sky last year as they had their own line at the exchange, my speed was very constant with only minor reduction during peak times. I moved to the hebrides & because I was under contract ported over to sky Connect. My day time speeds are around 7mb out of a poss 8mb. But during peak times 3pm-1 am my speed drops to as low as 0.3 mb. I contacted Sky tech support & was told a few times it was a problem at my end. I did question them that a connection at 2pm of 7mb reduces to 0.5 at 3pm ish everyday seemed too coincidental to be a problem my end especially after I had swapped cables etc to no avail. I eventually questioned people in the community, they were having the same problems.
I then asked to speak to tech management to seek an improvement, but was told nothing they can do. I said I would leave once out of contract as the service was unacceptable. He replied thats what I would have to do. So, poor service , poor tech support & little to no customer satisfaction a priority. I gave them a 2 for being honest & saving me countless more hours on the telephone trying to sort a problem they have no intention of solving.
