Being an O2 customer, I decided to go for the Broadband package... I was surprised to find they only charged £7.50 a month which is really cheap. I chose the 8mb package and was quoted Unlimited downloads. I have been wary of companies that quote this, however O2 was the only company that was true to their word. I used to be a virgin customer, and am a very heavy downloader and I used to be capped by Virgin... but O2 have never capped me even though I download more now than I did with virgin.

I was quoted an estimate of up to 5mb, but when I tested my connection I was getting 6.5mbps which is more than what they quoted and I think that's brilliant lol. To date I have had no problems with O2, and I was setup in just a week. I recommend them ESPECIALLY FOR HEAVY DOWNLOADERS :).

The wireless router is free, and it works with my iPhone and PS3, GAME ON!!! ^^.

paying £17.13pm for there Great service NOT!!
Plus having to top up my mobile another £10 every three months to get the discount Yeah Right !!! customer service sucks big time ive been intouch with ofcom.

Suppose to get there customers the best speeds they can thats another clause in the t/c

Avoid o2 like BT as both as bad as each other

well i moved from BT and got the O2 Pro package for £17-ish

using the setup was an absolute doddle, took about 2 mins, using the supplied O2 Wireless Box III, this is for the most part is perfect for most people, is used to sync at 19200-ish near enough the full 20Mb

i however, use a Cisco, i seemed to sync at around 15500ish initially but it has been creaping back up, im currently at 17600ish, i think this is down to different chipsets on the modem and possibly O2's routers using different extensions to Cisco, therefore syncing far better (i could download at 1.9MB/s now i can only achieve 1.75MB/s

there is/has been problems on the O2 network, mainly down to loss of routing on WAN subnet (down to arp tables being flushed and not renewed - i think), some people experiance problems with DHCP, but i think this has been resolved plus it never affeceted me, last but not least, the DNS servers are a tad poor, ive set my Router to use openDNS, and its been lightning all the time

with the correct setup and knoledge O2 can be fantastic, although from what ive read the technical support seems to be better on Be

but for the price its damned good, plus there working through the problems

Title: Avoid
A previous review warned about numerous disconnections. Well... it's true!

So if you are into MMORPGs or stream anything from the web, avoid O2.

If you do not get disconnected, you will get hit with very slow web experience, where any web page can take from 15 to 30 seconds to finish loading. Any page. From any site. From any country. Seriously!

It seems that O2 chronically suffers from DNS and/or routing problems. And they do not seem capable/willing to fixing this, preferring to blame just anything, and make you waste time, probably hoping you will stop complaining, knowing you are locked into their contract anyway.

My 12-months contract is now over. Do not make the same mistake I did. Do not join O2!

Unable to access email for over a week now. Initially fobbed off by customer services ("we had a problem but it should be fixed later"), now they have admitted there is a problem. Promised response within 48hrs, nothing heard. Called back to be told nobody has picked up the case yet and it might be 10 days before my email works again. It might be £7.34 a month, but as always you get what you pay for- shambolic customer service in this case.

And lets not forget the "up to 8Mb" which is running at 1.2Mb...

In a moment of madness I joined Sky broadband, but three days later I had came to my senses and had second thoughts and cancelled. Its now ten days since then and my line is still tagged even though I have an email telling me that it would be clear from the 4th July, hence it has stopping me from getting another provider. In the short time I had contact with them it cost me a fortune on phone calls at 8.5p min +vat, as their service is run on a almost complete automated service. And the few people you do get to speak too are just call center robots. Phewww.... what a lucky escape!!

aviod at all costs, they sell you connect BB but dont tell you they operate a bandwidth restriction between the hrs of 5pm and midnight? Which means your bandwidth between these times virtually dies.
So if your a gamer like me you have a year a misery untill your contract ends and you can dump them. you have been warned

I was having all sorts of issues with BT so moved my BB, and phone line & rental to Sky recently.
I have never been so happy as I now get much faster speeds on bb and the whole package saves me money!
The phone line engineers are brilliant and go that extra mile :) I had a prob, phoned, they called back and after following instructions was sorted after 30 mins.
First class compared to the other 2 ISP's I have been with :)

Title: Very happy
The line was set up on the estimated date they gave me. I've got good sync speed and manage to get most of that in speed-tests. Pings are good. And all for £7.34 a month! Bargain.

I didn't bother running the setup CD they sent though, as didn't want to have all sorts installed on my computer. Simply plugged the phone line in to the router, turned it on and my computer found the wireless network, clicked connect, entered the password (which is written on the bottom of the wireless router they send) and I was done in about 60 seconds.

Comes with WEP encryption on as default, but easy enough to change to WPA.

I made a terrible mistake when I agreed to change our ISP to SKY.

We changed from 1mbps via Tesco to 16mbps with Sky - so you might have thought our internet speed would be much quicker - oh no. Far far worse, it takes so long to load their own home page, we get the cannot display page message more often than not. But of course, Sky can find nothing wrong with our line.

When I installed the sky modem, it trashed my desktop pc (cursor stuck in middle of screen, from point of restart); it took 2 new motherboards and full system recovery to get it working again. What assistance did Sky's helpdesk have to offer me? Well first switch off the PC and then switch back it on; didn't help - oh - could you get your husband to check that you wired the mouse in properly! How sexist is that. It then got worse, because sky then refused to speak to me and would only communicate with my husband on all matters - despite me being an authorised contact on our original sky tv account. Only the man of the house will do for sky it seems. So ladies if you value your independence don't switch to sky.

We opted for the all package with sky - including switch phoneline from BT to sky as well. That switched on 28 April - almost immediately we got interference on the phone line. I rang up today - after 4 attempts and an hour on hold - i was told there again nothing wrong with our line, despite admitting they could hear the interfernce on their side as when I disconnect the modem, the interference reduced slightly. So if we want to make phone calls, we need to disconnect the modem - hang on, isn't that like an old fashioned dial up service?!?

Sky say we will be charge £99 for an engineer call out and £66 per hour thereafter. It will £99 if we are not in when the engineer calls - so guess what, they left a message of the day and time of that visit with my son, despite him saying I was in the bath. (Must have mistaken him for the man of the house!) Due to the interference on the line - he couldn't work out what they were on about. When I called back, they denied leaving a message with a child, as he would not know the account password. It just gets worse and worse.

I would recommend that you avoid Sky if you are thinking of changing ISP - we are counting the days till we can change to someone else.
