My elderly dad just fell victim to these crooks.
He foolishly allowed their pressure sales guy into his house about a year ago and signed up with them. Since then he's had nothing but trouble with his internet connection and he never got his email working at all, despite repeated calls to them to try to sort it out, so he finally gave up and decided to go back to BT.
He just received a bill for more than 750 pounds from Unicom for 'breaking the three year contract' that he didn't even know he'd signed up to - which, to my dismay, he's paid. As a pensioner this is a huge financial burden and extremely upsetting to him.
I just got off the phone with him and I'm furious.
Avoid at all costs.
Update: OK, after some googling I now see that they were investigated by Ofcom for this kind of thing in 2015 and fined:
