Please, for the love of god, do *not* sign up with Virgin Media broadband. They are horrible and slow, and lock you into a 12-month contract as you receive poor service. Premium-rate 0900 number for any customer service, and horrible email customer service.
I just finally found ADSL24 (and there are some others) who only have 1-month contracts (because they stand behind their product) and great reviews, and made the switch.
I get 10KB/second at night with Virgin, although during the days they are fine. I am not one of the throttled people, I don\\\'t download too much, and even if I was throttled, they\\\'re not supposed to throttle you that low.
