6 months now and I am still very happy with Zen.

If you want a reliable - hassle free, friendly service - you do get what you pay for with Zen. Yes, they are more expensive than many, but the old saying \'Pay peanuts - get monkies\' seems very apt with ISPs.

I\'ve only had reason to call Zen on one occasion and my problem was dealt with swiftly, professionally and politely by somebody who knew what they (and I) were talking about. My issue was sorted out within minutes of my call. It was followed up by a nice email too.

I\'ve had various ISPs over the years, but non of them were a touch on Zen. Zen make you feel like a valued customer.

Migrated to Zen recently as I needed multiple static IPs for my home servers. Amazing service - fast, effortless migration, their customer portal and support pages tell you just about anything you would ever want to know.

The price is fair (?21.27) for 8MB service with 8 static IPs - highly reccomended.

Signed up with Zen for a relative - I\'m with BT which is wonderful compared with Zen. Despite Zen promising activation date of a week before Christmas there is still no service. I was told the line was activated & they took my money so I spent 2 hours trying to get a connection & checking everything that might be wrong my end - couldn\'t get through to phone support, 2 days later got email response to say \"sorry - line wasn\'t activated after all\". New date for activation has been & gone with no action & they refuse to give me a credit - \"we only refund if you cancel\". Email queries now take even longer. AVOID ZEN.

So far so good. Been with Zen for a week, after migrating from the awful service provided by Demon. Good points...

1. Salesman knew what he was on about
2. Signed up Friday @ 10:00am, activated Wednesday @ 07:30am
3. No downtime during migration (none I was awake for anyway)
4. Nice fast stable connection

Pretty expensive, but ultimately worth every penny for us internet-dependants.

Title: Excellent!
I\'ve been with Zen for nearly a year now, and can honestly say, they are by far and away, the best ISP I\'ve ever used. Excellent support (let down only by the fact that it\'s not 24/7), by UK staff, and they actually know what they\'re doing! Unlike the mess that was Plus Net.

Using the 2mb uncapped connection at present, but contemplating upgrading to the 8mb capped (50gb) service in the near future.

The account comes with a decent 2gb web space too!

Thoroughly recommended.

What can I say?....Zen have won numerous awards and for a good reason. The are simply the best ISP around at the moment. They are rock solid in terms of reliability, speed, customer service and support. What more can anyone ask?.....cost maybe. Yep, Zen are not the cheapest around but, as the saying goes, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. If you want the best, DIG DEEP...go on, I know you want to.

I recommend it highly for homes and small businesses.

I tried nearly every ISP, small and large, before settling with Zen. I moved my home connection to Zen nearly a year ago. Since then two of my office connections are also moved to Zen. I am planning to move remaining two as soon as their contracts expire.

My experience with Zen is insanely fast and reliable connections. Prompt, efficient, friendly, and individual support service. Stress-free, connect-and-forget broadband. No wonder, Zen is consistently in TOP ISPs list, here and elsewhere.

Good all round provider - good support, but shame its not 24/7. 20gig for ?24.99 was great at one time, not so competative any more with many suppliers offering far more.

I\'m leaving after a month because:

Zen sent a non-working link to their migration order tracker, and didn\'t resolve the issue by mail;

account control is via a portal that requires separate registration. I\'ve been unable to make it work. Support for this has been slow- days to reply to mail;
final show stopper: their SMTP server can only be accessed when physically connected to their network, which means reconfiguring my mail client every time I take the laptop out of the house. Telephone support on this was useless and seemed to think that webmail was an adequate solution.

For what\'s supposed to be among the best I\'ve found them poor.

I have been with Zen 4 months now and can honestly say that they are the best ISP I have had so far. Communication is excellent and they are easy to contact. If you have a question it gets answered quickly and efficiently.

No, they are not not cheapest - but IMHO they are probably the best.

Title: Superb!!
After suffering with many more with the decline of pipex and the Hoff. Zen have been a breath of fresh air. No BS just pure BB

Took them 4 days once recieving my MAC code to connect me. It was seemless process.

Super fast speed whilst surfing, gaming and downloading (including P2P).

Their Portal is excellent takes about 5 mins to get used to but then its easy. Great for managing your own account. Fantastic idea unlike other BB\'s account management which is vague or non-existant.

Only downside of Zen is they are expensive. Although it is definatley a case of \'You get what you pay for!\'. Zen are numero uno in my books.

Where to begin....

The cost is almost double some of the other ISP\'s. The latency is terrible. I\'m experiencing spikes of 200-300 and as a gamer, this is unacceptable. Even worse is the fact that Zen notified me it could take them 48 hours to even look at my complaint.

Very poor service is all i can say

Anyone out there who wonders about changing their ISP from the so called Big Named ISP\'s who advertise like crazy! and throw in worthless block this block that use this goodie and phone someone with this crap package while your at it, when all you want is a fast, secure internet service.

hang on - you think they must be delivering me the best service right? think again.

Believe me their is light at the end of the tunnel and its on the Zen Internet line.

I switched to Zen recently after deciding enough was enough of BT and what a difference!

I will post again with some specifics on ZEN\'s service as I have ran out of char..

Having worked with many ISP\'s and their Customer service departments over the years, I can truly say that Zen are the best, especially for Business Broadband connections. They are slightly expensive, but so reliable and you always get consistent bandwidth without drop-out and reconnections. Billing is efficient and accurate. I have spent many hours troubleshooting connections and routers that customers have specified themselves (Usually BT or AOL), only to re-specify to Zen with fantastic results and migration times. Support is good, if you ever need it, but needs to be 24/7. The ONLY ISP I recommend to keep my own reputation and sanity.

The connection has been rock solid as i expected it to be and my whole internet experienced has been transformed, even web pages load faster than my old ISP, even before ZEN upgraded me to MAX. The 1GB of webspace is useful if you decide to make use of it and also having a static IP as standard is great.
I will not pay ?1 for an extra 1GB if i reach the 20GB download cap though,i will just migrate away....Zen are good, but they are not THAT good!. Edit: now migrated away because 20GB wasn\\\'t going to cut it, now on a no frills connection with a higher included usage and paying ?3.00 less a month, Zen are overkill for the casual home user

I migrated to Zen in September 06 after having a rather unpleasant experience with Bulldog. What a difference!! My migration took place as agreed 4 days after supplying Zen with my MAC code and I have not looked back since. I have 5 times faster speed than before at a much reduced price, and I only have to pay for what I use (Lite) with the chance to buy extra bandwidth should I need it occasionally. Only a 30 day contract as well, not that I will want to leave them.

I have certainly not regretted changing to Zen.

Zen is brilliant and fast http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedchart.asp?id=74c39721108ea58e5b09d074a88

Just activated and went live earlier from BT within 3 days instead of 5 days. I was amazing how fast it was. I am pleased to be with Zen as I know home 2000 (2Mb - 50:1) is expensive but you pay what you get - unlimited, uncapped, unrestriction, no traffic shaping, no speed throttle on any usenet or p2p. Great gaming and good ping.

Top mark 10/10 - move to Zen and you won't regret.

I have been with Zen for about three years and although they are not the cheapest, you get what you pay for. Excellent service, support and speeds. It is no accident that many people rate this ISP as the best in the country. I recommend them completely.
If you ever need to call Support, you speak to someone almost immediately in Rochdale who understands the business and helps sort out any problems. I hope they move to LLU so I can give up my BT landline.

Ive been with them now a couple of months. Had a seamless, well informed migration and a seemingly unbreakable connection and constantly good speeds.

Ive previouly been with Pipex, Metronet and F2S and have to say Zen is superior in every aspect.

The only slight disappointment is the price, but when I now look at my previous ISP\\'s and all the discontent currently with them, I have to say that Zens recent press release was spot on. Like anything you get what you pay for.

Without Zen, anything else seems a false economy.

I have had such a bad time since BISCIT went belly up on the 19th March. Zen were recommended here so I signed up with them on 24th April (long story via Be There). 1st May activation date arrived and... Nothing. Zen blamed this on BT and they may be right, but told me to expect a date of 8th May. Guess what? Now told that actually no date at all due to local exchange problems. Again, they may be right, but despite zero IP packets they had tagged my line and could not provide a MAC code! Here I am waiting for another week while my line gets de-tagged. Arse.

I've been with Zen for 3.5 years now and the only time I had to ring customer support was when I suddenly didn't have a connection. Within 2 mins on phone they identified the problem as with my router packing up. Brought new router and all fine again.
Can't fault their service, speed etc, genuine unlimited downloads, the only slight problem being the price, but what do you expect when you are getting the best!

Doing this review on behalf of my mum, whom has finally got braodband after years of BT telling her she couldnt.

Zen pushed it through and now she has a stable 256 line. Zen have been extremely helpful, and have impressed me no end. Yes, they are expensive compared to others, but ask any customer of theirs if its worth it.

Put quite simply, you definatly will not have any of the problems people get with other ISPs that you see so often on forums.

Excellent service: if they\'re not on the line, they phone back quickly and they\'re helpful. Upgrading and downgrading is a matter of an email. Superb speeds. I think it\'s worth paying that little bit extra rather than regretting using one of the other services.
UPDATE, one year on:
I stand by my previous opinion. Also, as I am about to do a lot abroad, I am cancelling my broadband so I can comment on their closure facilities. They have been very flexible and helpful. Once again, excellent.
UPDATE
My previous reviews of Vivaciti were in 2007 and 2008, after which I moved away. On both occasions, as you can see above, I was congratulatory.

Being a loyal person when reasonably possible, on my return, I went back to Vivaciti over autumn 2014 to autumn 2015. Unfortunately, they have slipped.

There have been quite a few slowdowns. I have found hq rather loathe to do much; everything is an effort to them and their answer is to
ask the subscriber to carry out a whole range of tests, none of which are collated or used to the best of my knowledge. When I gave notice, they asked me why and I explained it. Then, later, when I made sure that notice was given, the same person asked me again. The final, rather odd, thing was that they billed me extra (admittedly it was a small sum which they wouldn't follow up because it wasn't worth it), because I transferred a day before my contract was due to expire. Yes, a charge for using their services - services I had paid for in advance - a bit less! So presumably, had I moved rather earlier to another service, they would have surcharged me handsomely!
I tried to find out the logic behind it, but did not receive a logical answer, not that a logical answer was likely (charging extra for using a service less - sounds right doesn't it).

Sorry, but Vivaciti is now a service rendered begrudgingly. Their original selling point was 'you get what you pay for'. Sorry, but there are other 'premium' services that cost less
but would appear to be better. I'm now trying Uno and will review after a while.

We have been with Vivaciti for about 5 months now, and would not look back, our last ISP would not sort out the problems we were having, and fobbed us of at every turn. Came over to Vivaciti, told them the problems, all their technical people were spot on and knew their stuff, they identified the problem, and after 3 days it was sorted, 8 months of poor broadband, came changed ISP and sorted within the week. Thats service for you.
Friendly, helpfull and strait talking, even call you back if you leave a message, how many do that nowadays?
Would strongly recomend these people to any one, ist class, shows what a company should be like!

Offers the same solid connections as other Entanet ISPs. Support is excellent, phone answered very quickly with very technically competent people on the end. Sorted out connection problems very quickly and smoothly. Then most surprisingly for an ISP actually got back in contact and made a follow up call a few days later to make sure every with still working fine and I didn\'t need any more support. A+ for tech support effort! I\'ve been with over half a dozen ISPs over many years and Vivaciti are amongst the best, after 6 months still can\'t fault them.

Moved to Vispa when ADSL became available on my exchange as my then provider (Surfanytime) were not ready to provide ADSL in my area. Service was good, communication excellent, and technical support prompt and personal. Indeed all communication was prompt and personal, even when I came to ask for an MAC code to leave. This was prompted purely by Vispa lagging behind in their pricing, as ?23.99 for 512Kb ADSL is quite expensive and although they offered to drop this slightly I still felt I could do better elsewhere. If you can afford the pricing however I would still recommend them as I have had no other complaints in 18 months or so.

This is my first ISP for Broadband. The initial sign up was very easy, the modem arrived quickly and I got a connection after 7 days which was their advised time. It is difficult to compare this ISP provider to others as Freeserve dial up is the only ISP I have been with. My connection seems to be very fast averages at about 6 Mbps. The only problem I had was with my e-mail account, which Vista sorted out within 10 minutes of me contacting them. Each occasion I have contacted Vista they have been very helpful. It took me a while to select an ISP, but at the moment I am very pleased I chose Vista.

Having moved to Vispa from Talk Talk, although the transfer took a tiredsome 3 weeks due to Talk Talk\'s total in ability to help, I must say I am more than happy with my choice of ISP. Their outfit seems quite small but in my humble oppinion, big isn\'t usually better. Keep up the good work Vispa.

Having been with BT for many years and fed up with the exhorbitant cost for both Broadband and Telephone, this is my reason for choosing Vispa. So far, it has been brilliant - so easy to set up. Had to call support for help with setting up additional email addresses. Friendly, UK based personnel helped me and in 5 minutes I was up and running. Can highly recommend Vispa..........

Back in 2007 I wrote a review praising Vispa and its tech support staff, sadly in recent years the service as degraded over and over again, until now, when I cannot emphasise how poor support has become.

In the last 3 years I have had a persistent issue with bad equipment at the exchange; even the OutReach engineer said it needed replacing if it failed again, but 3 failures later I STILL have the same faulty equipment on my line.

I have currently been without internet since 3rd of March (11 days), and despite the symptoms being EXACTLY the same as the other occasions the line has failed, the current crop of monkeys manning tech support wouldnt call out an engineer when I requested it - waiting a further NINE DAYS before suggesting there MIGHT be a network issue.

I asked for my MAC 3 times with no reply, before discovering by chance that they had changed the T&C's on the 1st of March, and now insist on a postal letter to cancel an account.

I also discovered they have transferred my phone line from BT to TalkTalk without my knowledge or permission.

All ISPs go through bad patches, but the deterioration over 3 years has been breath-taking, and recent company reorganisations and changes to payments systems leave me very uneasy.
I cannot recommend VISPA as a reliable ISP and suggest all current customers should consider alternatives.

In brief :-

Reasonable speeds (usually), with no current obvious blocking of torrents.

Unreliable email servers that fail to respond correctly for much of the night and regularly have a short nap during the day.

Appalling tech support, where they lie and BS to you.

High prices - which could be justified when they offered good service, but now are just a joke.

I have recently migrated to vispa from AOL. I have had a fault with my broadband for the last 4 weeks which AOL refused to report to BT. Since calling vispa and explaining my situation, they agreed to report the fault upon migrating. A few days later, sure enough it was fixed! Superb customer service. For me, it is well worth the extra couple of pound per month just to be looked after. The speed has also improved too.

NOW I FIND OUT YOU HAVE TO SEND A LETTER TO CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT
AND THAT CAN TAKE UPTO 14 DAYS ALSO SLOW TO RESPOND TO EMAILS

Its true that the transition from NTL to Virgin has had its problems but most of the time my service has been fine. Downloads of 200-250KB on a 2Mbit line seems like good service to me.

lol at the \"serious gamer\". Sorry to here that you get disconnected from WoW but it ain\'t Virgin\'s fault. Do a tracert to the wow servers and you will notice that the lag spikes aren\'t on virgin\'s servers at all. There are many posts on the wow-europe.com forums to this effect.

Technical Support is still the Call Centre numpties of course but lots of ISPs have that no just Virgin.

I have been a \\\'customer\\\' of Virgin.net for 6 years. They have been my first & only ISP. Until my \\\'upgrade\\\' to the 8mb service all has been well. However before the upgrade they told me I would get 4mb not 8mb. That was fine. However I typically get between 150k and 1.5mb. I get random drop outs. Gaming is impossible. Downloading is tedious. And customer service spend their time blaming BT and my phone line, the weather (and I pay them 25p/min for these nuggets of IT wizardry). What are they doing for their money. Very little as far as I can see. For this I pay them ?25/month. I am off to find someone better (perhaps BT).

It\'s a pity there are no minus stars to rate this very poor excuse for an ISP. Then again all they want is your money, after all we are only a number. I will be off like a dirty shirt very early next month. I refuse to give them the ?50 \"get out fee\" although this was supposed to be the \"no contract\" ISP!! Anyway, just over a week ago decided to change to the new bundle 2, long story cut short, this was done over the phone. 7 days later no email regarding change. Called them up to be told sorry sir but we have no record of this!! Phew!! that on top of a slow speed, supposed to be 5.6mbps!! Late emails, sevice status?? what\'s that.

We have been with Virgin for just about 12 months now. Have seen real decline in the service, especially over the last few months. Some emails sent, take days to arrive. They seem to sit on Virgin\'s server for all this time. Tried various tests to prove this. Had no connection at times yet their service status always shows \"green\" (never actually seen it on red)
I kept getting some emails two and three times (especially large file ones) They blamed it on the fact I had set up \"mail forwarding\" So I took that off and still the problem is there! What\'s the point of having it if it doesn\'t work.
Customer service is non existant. AVOID

I have been with virgin.net for 2 years. Up until I upgraded from 2mbps to 3.5mbps
Problems only happened occasionally. The upgrade, in April gave me a very slow unstable connection. In the day, I get a speed of around 200 to 350kbps. I play a lot of online video games who measure your connection by the ping. The servers I play on have a ping upper limit of 150. I get around 250 to 300. I have a friend whose a Microsoft certified professional and has checked my pc. No problem my end but virgin say the problem must be. Technical supports keep blaming BT for nothing being done about it. Other than a line test..
After 7 months of going round in circles I have had to put in a complaint to www.ispa.org.uk but first I went to www.ofcom.org.uk to help them with the status report. Where they build a profile of how a company performs. If you join you may have a good connection for some time, but if things go bad your on your own.

I\'ve been with Blueyonder since moving to a Telewest area a little over three years ago, and in that time I\'ve watched friends and relatives wrestle with various ADSL ISPs whilst my connection remained rock-solid and just kept getting faster. I\'m now moving to an area not serviced by Telewest and have only just began to appreciate how much I have taken fast, reliable, unmetered internet access for granted. For the internet access par of their triple play at least, it truly is a case of \"if you can, you should\" if you are in a Telewest area.

Title: Slow Speed
Since the upgrade to 8Mb the service has been unacceptable with speed tests often showing 0.2 or 0.3 Mb/s. It used to be great and my ratings six months ago would have been very high, but just recently it has been useless. Connection never fails and my router is showing a connection time of 5 days, and the line speed shows 5.3Mb/s, but in speed tests, and general use, it is now very slow.

Am in email contact with them which is slow, and they have made the obvious suggestions but nothing I haven\'t tried. Waiting for the next email.

Been with them years on dial up and broadband (3+ years). Don\'t want to change but its getting silly. Mike

They claim to have a 1 month contract. They lie. After 5 days I\'d had enough of their shoddy customer service and porn-rate service lines and phoned up to cancel, quite prepared to have to pay for the rest of the month. Instead I had to pay an additional ?50 \"cancellation fee\" which only would have expired after 12 months. In other words it is a 12 month contract. The ONLY reason I had joined them was for a 1 month contract.

This service is fine if you only use it for downloading files and e-mails but I need it for gaming and the pings I get are atrocious, its like I\'m playing on a 56k modem! I can download at a rate of 400kbs but I ping at about 300 on UK servers?? Go figure.

The only way to contact them is through their 25p min help line. Their online chat help system does not work and when I try to send them a message through their website I am returned an error and given no alternative e-mail address. Fortunately I have only 3 months left before my 12 months is up so I can sweat it out, I fell sorry for anyone who gets stuck with this now.

Signed up for telephone and adsl package. Connection problems so decided to cancel before getting stuck in 12 month contract.
Despite telephoning and emailing them to cancel the CPS before it was due to start they didn\'t cancel this service, I had to get BT to do it a few days before it was due to start.
They gave me a MAC code but then put a cancellation on the line preventing me from migrating.
They offered me ?14-99 as a goodwill gesture - it has never happened, instead they deducted ?14-99 2 days before ADSL was removed and a month later have taken an extra ?137 from my credit card.
Wouldn\'t recommend this company to anyone!

After sales are also faultless, when workmen cut through the digital cables while digging the pavement up Blueyonder had it repaired within 48 Hours. Also you get digital TV and a telephone line rental(which is Cheaper than BT)all for thirty quid a month for the starter package.
I would have thought the costs for the more expensive packaages would have come down with all the broadband competion but to date they havnt.

This has been an awful transition. Now, Virgin Media imbeciles have begun to phone me, demanding payments for which I have not even received the billing statement yet! I got into an argument with an incompetent and very rude man who called me for this very reason. He screamed \"WHAT\" at me when he didn\'t understand what I was saying, he refused to give his surname when I asked, and then eventually told me his name was Steven FAKE! I hung up on him - but not before leaving him with very some colourful language. It left him stunned.

Connections drop out 3-4 times a night (between 7pm and 11pm)

Virgin.net has the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I used to work for an ISP, and can state with absolute certainty that they have no idea what they are doing!

In the two months that I have PAID for their service, they have provided 8 days of actual connection. However, during this time they have \"mischarged\" (READ STOLEN) ?87 from my bank account, and have done little to nothing to make up for their ineptitude. Because of the fine print of the contract I\'ve signed, they can steal as much of my money as they\'d like.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TALK TO, SIGN UP FOR, OR GIVE MONEY OR TIME TO THIS COMPANY!

QUOTE \"I used to be happy with Telewest Blueyonder, but since they merged with NTL, I\'ve had a steady stream of connection problems. It\'s been of for 3 - 4 days around 5 - 6 times now since November... and I was on the 10mb service paying ?35/month for it. I got so fed up with it that I down-graded to 4mb. I\'m not willing to pay for a service I\'m not receiving. I know this may sound paranoid... but I\'m certain since NTL merged with them, they\'ve been capping bandwidth, on what\'s supposed to be a un-caped service. The only reason I\'m staying with them is ADSL is not quick enough in my area yet. A final note: \"The Foreign Call Centres Suck!\"\"

I cut and pasted the above review because it is exactly what I was going to say. I\'ve been a Blueyonder broadband user for seven or eight years and it was a great service until about two years back. Since then the speed, customer service and everything else about it has declined steadily.

I\'m writing this on a Sunday afternoon and my Blueyonder 4MB service is taking two minutes to open pages on this site. It\'s like this every weekend now and often almost as slow early in the evening on weekday nights too. MY phone has been out of action six or seven times since Christmas and Blueyonder customer service don\'t seem very bothered. Their only suggestion for curing the slow broadband download speed was to upgrade to 10MB. I tried this and it wasn\'t even a slight improvement. The recent merger with Virgin doesn\'t appear likely to resolve the performance issues either so I\'m on this site looking for a new ISP.

I have been with virgin for over 3 years and for the most things were good. Being on plan one and paying ?24.99 when they introduced Bundle one for ?19.99 to include unlimited 8meg plus free evening telephone calls...I changed packages. Oh what a mistake which will cost me dear. My broadband speed is now down 41kbs on a sunday night and at best 600kbs in the day time. Their is no email support at all and they just make you wait on the phone (25p per min). I am now trapped in a 12 month contract with them and it will cost me ?240 to get out. Please please do not make the same mistake as me and avoid virgin at all cost!!!!!!

After being a customer on BB since 2000 the latest stunt by VM to gain profit from every website I visit using a company owned by someone who masterminded toolkit spyware. I have decided to leave I cannot recommend VM to anyone unless they dont mind every page they visit being read. A good place to learn about phorm http://www.whyphormisbad.org/ and why it is bad for customers..
Shame that greed for more money has spoilt a good ISP. I move monday but my cable has another 30 days to go.
Speed recently has been below 2meg on a 4meg package at peak times with high pings in games, if you use gateway gaming server VM have bad network to them.

Title: R.I.P. NTL
NTL was rock-solid for over a year. Then Virgin bought them out in Feb 2007. I play in a serious end-game raiding guild and have had to cancel my place on all future raids due to constant random disconnects and massive lag caused by whatever Virgin has done to the service. From the day Virgin took over my latency has increased from a normal 30ms to between 500ms and even 5000ms.

I strongly recommend that you look elsewhere if your connection to the Internet has to be reliable and stable.

I have been with Blueyonder now for over two years. I have never had a bad word to say about the whole service. Support is good. I have experienced only the minimal of downtime with their connection as a whole. Over my time with them I have been upgraded several times up to 4MB, currently, always with e-mail notifications, and without any fuss or frustration, and I\'m still paying my original monthly fee when I opened my account! If you are looking for a good, reliable, ISP you can\'t go far wrong...

Title: Awful!
When I first joined Virgin in 2003 I was really pleased with their 512Mbps service. True at ?24.99 it\'s not the cheapest but unlimited was the enticing factor. Since then they\'ve upgraded my line at no extra cost. Great!

Until...they \"upgraded\" my line to \'up to 8Mbps\' in the summer 2006. Oh deary me. It worked fine for about 1 week and since then I\'ve had either no connection at all or about 150Kbps max. They\'ve downgraded me to 2Mbps but it\'s still as bad and they can\'t fix it.

The icing on the cake was their \"Customer Services\" telling me I\'m paying for the unlimited bandwidth and NOT the 8Mbps connection.

Avoid them like the plague.

I have been with Virgin since first getting broadband 3 years ago. I have never had problems with connections and speed had always been good. In recent weeks the connection has been very slow around 130kbps at peak times. If I connect at 2am I get 5 mbps so it seems that virgin have a problem with capacity.

If you do not want to pay for telephone support you can email but I have often not received a reply. There is an instant messaging service which is decent but often not available. The support staff will blame everything on your equipment especially if you do not use their modem even if the problem is clearly at their end.

My broadband went down for one week, it took them that long to realise that there was loose connection at one of the exchange.
Recently, they have started capping my broadband speed claiming that i have been downloading excessively. Funny, I had been with them for 6 months and had been downloading this much but wasnt a problem then!
However, they said that even when my broadband speed has been capped, I should be getting around 576 kbps (from 6Mbps) during peak times (4pm - 12am).
Here is my speed test from speedtest.net

Previously with Namesco(formerly NDO)and had no complaints about connection speed, reliability or price.
Freeview reception in my area is pathetic, and i\'d had mixed quality (weather affected)reception with SkyDigital. So I decided 2 switch 2 cable.
I\'m now paying ?4 more than I was with Namesco/BT and getting 80+ TV channels with no picture breakup/sound drop-out problems of freeview/Sky.
The 2MEG BB connection itself has performed flawlessly with speeds on average 200-250kbps on decent sites or fast P2P connections. The speed is as promised and connection problems nil.
Slow sites=slow downloads,that\'s not the ISP\'s fault!

Don\'t be deceived by Virgin\'s high rating here.
Because the excellent Telewest has been bought up by Virgin, Virgin is getting all of Telewest\'s kudos but providing an awful service.
Their technical support is dreadful. They have a 10mb inbox limit for emails, and the maximum outgoing email attachment size (according to their technical support) is 1mb!!!

Title: Very Poor
The cost of just 17.99 per month should be the first clue to the service from Virgin Media. I had a connection with Virgin internet before the whole NTL thing happened, & the connection speed averaged 6-8mb & everything would work quickly. However since it turned to Virgin Media I am averaging about 512k - 1mb if im lucky, it fails to connect all the time, and as for online gaming its impossible because the connection keeps closing. If you ring the support staff you will get through to someone quickly, but they will have no idea what they are doing, took me a week just to get the MAC code & now am searching for an ISP that works at ADSL Speed

The problem with most broadband providers is that things go OKish until they go wrong. The acid test seems to be what they do when you\'re having problems. Virgin imposed a punitive premium rate on their customer service line after I joined. When the (slightly flakey) broadband simply stopped working I paid a small fortune to call them just to ask them to provide me with the service they had promised. They were utterly useless. I finally resorted to writing them letters which they completely ignored. I\'m so annoyed with them that I\'ve just issued a small claims court process against them. I do not recommend.

Having been a big fan of blueyonder, I had reservations
when Virgin media took over. Its been a few weeks now and my initial fears have been confirmed. I am supposed to be on a 4MB
connection, however at weekends and evenings I struggle to get
1MB connection speeds. You tube and Myspace lag terribly and
the download times of fast websites like bbc have also begun to
lag sometimes taking over a minute to load....I may as well have
a dial-up connection when its at its worst!!! Phoning virgin often ends up at a foreign call centre, whose staff are rude and the phone lines are poor quality making support difficult. RIP blueyonder :-(

I\\\'ve been with virgin for about 2 years now and to start with things were ok, ever since i moved to adsl max I had a few problems with speed but again nothing too bad. However i\\\'ve since realised that my evenings speeds drop to below 500kpbs and in the last month i\\\'ve had days when im surfing at 125kbps.

I\\\'ve been instructed to do BT tests but during last weeks speed dip I had 2 days when things were normal again, this makes me think they have server and bandwith issues on there side.

After reading other comments I firmly believe that they\\\'ve been lying to me about speed issues.

I live in the Essex area and have been a customer of Telewest for over 10 years. I have been paying for the ?25 a month service since transferring over to broadband from dial-up around 4 years ago. The ?25 a month service offers a speed of \'up to 4mb\', whereas the ?18 a month service offers a speed of \'up to 2mb\'. I had never successfully tested my system past 2mb and always assumed that must be due to my own computer system setup or demands on the network. I have recently found out that in the area that I live the maximum speed available from any provider is 2Mb. I am stunned that I have been paying ?7.00 more for a service which the company has never been able to provide. I have spent in excess of an hour this evening waiting to speak to a representative in order to downgrade my service to the ?18 a month option. If I had a BT line, I would be changing provider immediately. VERY disappointed.

Been with Virgin (ADSL 6Gb data cap.8Mbps)a short time. I had problems with email at first but now thats sorted.
The customer service (tech support) 25p/min do not phone back, even when they say they will?
They do not send updates on any problems, even after the fault is found?

The advertised \\\\\\\"No Contract\\\\\\\" is incorrect, as they ask for a ?50 fee if you leave within 1 year. This cost and 1 year term constitute a contract.

I will update this review when/if I have been with them a few months.

Over the past 2 months my 10mb broadband connection has slowly deteriorated and after speaking to numerous English and foreign support technicians nothing has been resolved. Its chokes when streaming video, it chokes when playing online games and web viewing gets laggy; the quality has definitely dropped since the NTL/Virgin merge.

What used to be a perfect internet connection and fantastic for playing online games is now struggling to provide, and as a result am seriously starting to look at other hi-speed isp\'s. It never used to matter what time of day it was, but now evenings and weekends are laggy!

During the past six months I have more failures to connect with this ISP than I did with Tiscali (and that is saying something). Approx 8 times per week is the average, for around an hour at a time. The service is unacceptably slow, too. And I am paying ?25 per month for this \'unlimited\' service! Well, not for much longer - I\'ll be switching to a better provider urgently. My advice would be to steer clear - it\'s obvious where priorities lie in this organisation and it isn\'t with ADSL broadband.

I also have problems with streaming now and i have to pay them to ring them because of a fault with there service. Blueyonder was fantastic no shaping or paying for help, now i pay virgin more for less ! they oversell the nodes and spend nothing on upgrading and expect us the xl package users to suffer at their expense.

If you do live in a Telewest Area, GET IT!

The thing i like about it most is the fact you have Unlimited Download / Upload Bandwidth. Also, having 6 PC\'s connected to a router, i never really see a problem.

The 10Mbit connection is fantastic for the price, and i dont regret staying with Blueyonder.

I\'ve been having problems with the speed of my broadband connection. At best, it can reach around 1,100 kbps but usually it\'s much slower than that &mdash around 300 kbps or less on a busy evening.

I\'m said to be connected at 8.1 Mbps but the reality is very different.

Advice from Virgin technical support has been poor: the usual stock e-mails, out-of-date information about the BT Speedtester, and most recently, a support person who said, \"I\'ll just talk to my superior and I\'ll ring you back within ten or fifteen minutes.\" Five days later, I\'m still waiting for the call.

I\'ve been with Virgin for years, but I\'ve had enough.

Was with blueyonder for years and was VERY happy-but since Dec06 (ie Virgin takeover) its been SHOCKING (ie 90kbps downloads on a 4mbps package, with packet loss as high as 40% at times). Spent 3 months trying to get it sorted and despite spending hours (literally) on the phone I kept getting a variety of excuses, none of which hold water.Eventually got a new cable modem but it made no difference and after another 3 hours on the phone, the girl finally told me there was a major network issue that wouldn\'t be sorted for another SIX MONTHS. They refused to put this in writing to me. She told me we\'d get a discount of ?8 a month - urrr no thanks

I get 8 to 10 Mb connection most of the time, with a home network of 3 PCs set up. There may be the odd drop to 5 or 6 Mb very occasionally for an hour or so at a time, but there is no guarantee that it is VirginMedia\\\'s problem, maybe just where I am browsing/downloading from.
Had V+ installed a short while back - initially no V+ services but all sorted in a couple of days with very good customer service.

We use it mainly for browsing, items we have downloaded were done very quick. Virgin Media's support/customer care has been excellent. A long time Blueyonder customer, I have had service issues before, where they agreed a price verbally, then overcharged. Thought the VM era might be different, should have known better.

I recently moved house and the same thing happened. Negotiated a package (4Mb, Basic TV, Tel line with free Eve/Wknd calls - ?29/m) and they billed me ?7 extra/m!!! Have had to contact them twice as the fist time the lying sales person told me she had sorted it out but did nothing. Will see what happens!

Generally good speeds though have to regularly reboot the modem, \"traffic management\" now also in place, seems like the service is going down the tubes!

Its cheap and offered upto 8mb unlimited speed so i went for it!

During anything remotely \"peak time\" such as evenings and weekends it became apparent my conection could go as poor as 100Kbps (read 10k a sec downloads!) and a massive 250-350 ping (no games unless i stayed up till 2am). These woeful pings would be pretty much constant from firday night till early monday morning!

Support was largely dross but one guy admitted it was way over subscribed but others just told me to do a speedtest over and over again. All this at the cost of 25p a minute for all adsl enquiries regarding line speed, making more money of utter crap service.

This service used to be great under blueyonder. 10mb Unlimited. Never had to ring support. However, since Virgin media took over the service has been slowly but surely going down the pan.

I can now only get a max of about 300kb/s despite paying for 1000kb/s. Traffic is throttled at peak times anyway now as standard, but i seem to be throttled all the time.
And on the subject of throttling..
Tech support worse than useless. I stay on hold for 15 minutes to be put through to a useless script reading moron in India. So I immediatly rang customer service to downgrade my bill to pay for the speed im receiving rather than what i should be getting

Been a Telewest (was Birmingham Cable) customer going back to their dialup only days. Quickly moved on to their broadband packages and enjoyed the service. Was happy to pay extra for faster speed because it was always guaranteed.

Then the bad news came, NTL had bought Telewest. I knew it was bad news after all the complaints NTL used to get on Watchdog. True to say they haven\'t changed. Now they have a new tactic, rename the company to cover up their bad reputation. Virgin Media is nothing more than NTL renamed. Do not be fooled, Richard Branson doesn\'t care.

STM, High prices, Dodgy tactics. It doesn\'t get any better than this.

Originally ordered the 8meg package. Upon activation, pings to WoW servers would range from anywhere between 800ms to nearly 2000ms.
A few (rather expensive) calls to customer services later, and they changed the line to 2meg (at no cost reduction to me). Latency now lingers between 300ms-500ms, making it utterly useless for online gaming of any sorts.

Customer service staff were generally quite helpful and reasonably well informed, I have no gripes about them in particular, but the actual DSL itself is terrible.

If anyone in your household does any sort of online gaming, this is most definitely NOT the provider to choose.

When Virgin used to be Telewest my internet connection used to be awesome. Friends of mine used to marvel at the speed it\'d achieve, but not anymore.
Since Virgin took over the service has plummeted. I have the laughably called \"top package\", the only thing top about it is its price. For the last 6 weeks I\'ve been trying to contact Virgin to make a complaint about them, but will they answer my complaints? answer NO. All I\'m met with is promises and lies. Now, to add insult to injury they charge you 25 PENCE a MINUTE to call their helpline in INDIA. Their systems fails, YOU have to pay them to talk about it. As soon as I can, I LEAVE

Please, for the love of god, do *not* sign up with Virgin Media broadband. They are horrible and slow, and lock you into a 12-month contract as you receive poor service. Premium-rate 0900 number for any customer service, and horrible email customer service.

I just finally found ADSL24 (and there are some others) who only have 1-month contracts (because they stand behind their product) and great reviews, and made the switch.

I get 10KB/second at night with Virgin, although during the days they are fine. I am not one of the throttled people, I don\\\'t download too much, and even if I was throttled, they\\\'re not supposed to throttle you that low.

Apart from their help desk / support (which they have moved to India and they really don\\\\\\\'t understand our problems) every other thing is fantastic. I have been with NTL for 3 years and never had any issue with the speed. I mostly download stuff from Rapidshare and it always give me the promised speed and with out any download limits (it does matter where you download your stuff from).

I recommend it to all but before taking Virgin everyone should do a little research especially try to understand the difference between cable and the ordinary copper telephone line.

We\'re leaving Virgin cable and have gone back to a BT line with ADSL because of the very poor, unfriendly, and to be frank useless support that they offer. We started to have problems with our cable a few weeks ago and had to call - to my horror we were charged for the call, and the person at the other end had no idea what we were on about. That was the last straw and we\'ve just given our 30 days notice, good bye!!

I had been a very happy Blueyonder customer for over 10 years. Excellent speed, low latency & great FREE customer support.

Since Virgin Media took over I am disgusted with the slow speeds, high latency, traffic shaping (forget trying to do anything between 4pm and Midnight) broken promises and shoddy support for which you pay 25p/m to get someone who doesn\'t speak English or know what a computer is.

As soon as I can get a BT line installed I\'m leaving and never looking back.

I have been with Virgin for about 6 years and I have to say for the first 5 they were great. Totally reliable and speeds were excellent, service was good. However since the NTL merge speeds have plummeted, I\\\\\\\'m getting 512k or less and pay for up to 8MB. Service has become poor and quite frankly will be changing asap.
The contract should be simple ?20 a month for up to 8MB. I don\\\\\\\'t mind it being a little slower when busy etc but they should really rename the package \\\\\\\"Nowhere near 8MB\\\\\\\" and then their advertising wouldn\\\\\\\'t be fraudulent.

Unfortunately I can\'t give this ramshackle organisation less than one. I left Virgin media back in July, after tryimng to get my MAC code since June. Eventually they relented when I offered to enlighten them on the OFCOM agreement they signed up to. Three months later they sent my details to a credit collection agency to claim back ?6.60 which they said I owed them. Appprently they sent an email to my virgin webmail account which they disabled after I left them, to let me know. THEY MADE NO OTHER ATTEMPT TO CONTACT ME!.

IF YOU USE THIS COMPANY YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Being a full year customer, pretty angry the service.

The speed is ABSOLUTELY NOT \"really fast\". Frequent disconnect without reason.

Cannot play and online fps games after 1600 each day plus whole weekend. Ping to any game server is more than 200ms.

Contract is full of traps. My contract length is by the 31st of October this year and I gave them notice in September. They ignore my notice and said I must give them notice exactly on the 30th day before the contract ends, i.e. notice must be given on 1 October, no earlier or later! or one more month rent (even can\'t cancel it).

They used to use a 090 number for support....

Ahhh!!! This now truly sucks. Joined Virgin.Net in Jan 2005. Absolutely superb service till early this year (when it took over NTL. Initially was on the 1mb package & they upgraded me to the 2mb for free. Loving this, I upped for their 8mb package.

This month, my 8mb line barely gives me 128k speed. Infact uploading is faster then downloading. Hmmm... Numerous emails sent and no reply received. Called their rather expensive support number and felt like there were school kids on the support desk. Called virginmedia to get my MAC code. Time to transfer to a more reliable provider now.

Don\'t go there! I have had appalling service from this company, compounded by their refusal to recognise that there was anything wrong and their insistence that I kept on paying for a service that they were not providing. They just don\'t communicate with you though anything other than standard letters. I ended up starting a small claims court action against them which they have just paid up on without defending. I have a Virgin.net account and since ntl took over the management has changed (I know as I did work for them and know people still there). They have been cutting back on their network bandwidth if you are on ADSL in an attempt to save money and the speeds vary massively dependant on time of day. The ADSL service is currently in the UK and pretty good but there are plans to move it to India so will go downhill. If you live in a cabled area you are likely to get the best speeds available as cable has a larger capability than the BT network. However, the customer service is awful and mostly from India so I would avoid it on both counts.

I\\\'ve been with Virgin.net (media) for over 5 years and have a dial-up PAYG and an ADSL account with them. I have (up till a month ago) had no problems and any minor issues have been addressed very quickly.

However.....NOW since NTL and the rest were swallowed up it\\\'s all gone completely pearshaped. My dial-up is capable of a greater download speed than the ADSL and Virgin support (India) have not a clue as to what is going on and it would appear that they do not care a tot.

I have been patient and carried out all their tests all to no avail. I am seriously disappointed but will be looking for a new ISP now. Shame as everything was good.

I have had Virgin ADSL for almost 12 months now. The original reasons why I went with Virgin were:
1) They were the ADSL equivalent to NTL (cable) which had always done me proud.
2) No 12 month contract.
After joining I found out that \'no 12 month contract\' actually means we will charge ?50 if you want to leave before your 12 months is up!
My latency for the last year, has on average, been about 212ms! No on-line gaming for me then! After talking to \'technical\' support about 4-5 times I actually came across someone who knew what latency was. They tried to fix it but failed.
My dl speed is about 300kb/s way under 8Mb!
Avoid at all costs!

I have been a telewest/blueyonder/virgin customer for seven years. I have seen the cable internet go from a high quality reasonably priced service with free technical support to an over priced, under performing service with hidden \'unlimited\' clauses and 25p a minute technical support.
I was until Virgin took over paying ?35 a month for 10Mbit cable internet. No usage limits, unlimited actually meant unlimited. Virgin made a big deal about doubling the speed to 20Mbit, but I never get a download speed higher than 10Mbit. Now I have a download limit between 4pm and midnight, so if I download too much my speed drops to 5Mbit.

Been with VM for 4 months now, the call centre was fairly useless, but that seems par for the course these days. Have had a reliable connection on the M package. I like the fact VM don\\\'t require a phone service, as this was a waste of money for me with ADSL. I was a telewest customer a few years back and miss the community spirit they had then.I don\\\'t object to the bandwidth throttling during the 4pm to midnight period, as the rest of the day can be used for P2P and it\\\'s only fair to let the low use customers have a reasonable experience(I\\\'m capped daily). My main irritation is with the email servers which seem to be suffering alot of outages

Now I have virgin media\'s ADSL package and it\'s useless. My connection is slow and unreliable.

I\'m moving elsewhere and virgin aren\'t getting a penny.

I hate Virgin Media. I am leaving them. NTL basically rebranded as Virgin Media in an attempt to hide their terrible reputation. I used to love my internt connection from Blueyonder. Bellow is a list of why you should STAY AWAY from Virgin Media.
(1)Extemely slower than advertised speeds (and I\'m suposed to be on 20mb)
(2)Traffic shapping = slowing you down and not giving you what you pay for. And this lasts longer than 4pm to 12am at slower speeds than they say they will lower it too.
(3)A premium rate customer \"non\" service number.
(4)Terrible support with constant excuses.

Ok this post is for anyone considering using Virgin Media\'s broadband service... or can equally be used by the 1000\'s of existing Virgin customers wondering if they are alone with their broadband issues.

I\'ll be straight to the point...

Internet connection is VERY slow, i have 20mb connection, speed test on here today says i have 620kb/s! On average i\'m lucky to get 1mb.

Technical support is a joke, first you have to pay to fix the service youre already paying for and secondly you have to pay to speak to someone in India who has little english skills and who\'s only advice is reset your modem and try again later.

Result = AVOID!!!

Seems I have been lucky with Virgin. I stuck to the original contract of Broadband Plan 2 which is unlimited with speed up to 8mbps (more like 2 mbps). I don\\\'t do online gaming but I do a lot webcamming with my other family and other half that lives in Holland and Asia. Never had much problem with connection - unless I tried to download things from Youtube at the same time. Can\\\'t really complain about it. Never used the support before as there\\\'s not need. Did asked for an upgrade which I then cancelled (that\\\'s the one included phone but decided against it) which went on with no hitch whatsoever and no additional billing either.

Had virgin broadband for the better part of two years and have seen the effective bandwidth plummet in the last few month. Contention must be a serious issue for them, but they dont seem to do anything about it. My \\\"unlimited\\\" 8Mb connection literally gives me about 5-10kb download speed in the evenings. It takes about a minute to load cnn.com. An embarrasement to call this broadband. I have asked for my Migration Code and am leaving ASAP.

Recommedation: stay away if you want a top performing ISP.

I was a Virgin customer for about 5 years and finally had enough a couple of months ago. The speed of our \'up to 8Mb\' service was usually about 100kb in the evenings and one day we had no service at all for several hours. Everytime I called customer services the staff admitted the speeds were slow and there wasn\'t much they could do. One of their staff even recommended I change ISP as they are oversubscribed!
I changed to ADSL24 and the difference is amazing!

I had been a customer of the previous Virgin.net service since 1999 and generally found it to be quick, reliable and perfect for all of my browsing and gaming needs. I was therefore very taken aback by the sheer awfulness of the \'upgrade\' I got following the rebranding to Virgin Media.

It is horrifically slow at peak times, and mediocre even at off peak times. Latency is so bad that online gaming is impossible. Customer service is completely useless and phonecalls are charged at a premium rate. Service randomly cuts out at times.

In all, a terrible service that should be avoided like a flesh-eating disease. It\'s even slower than the tra

I switched from BT Business (ADSL) 8Mb, which I got 6Mb, to Virgin 20Mb (Cable).
First I got 2Mb, so I rang there support line (25p min), got through to India, she seemed to know her business, she had me run a few test before arranging for an Engineer to call the next day, it was a loose connection out side, the call cost ?5.00, but refunded in my case.
I now have 6Mb-20MB, depending on the time of day, things that affect this are people using there Cable for X-Box/Play Station Gaming, and TV down loads onto set top boxes.
So far I don\'t regret switching, but wish the speed was more constant, it is however overall faster then my ADSL was.

Virgin have got to be the worst ISP of the bunch, If I could, I would rate them at a minus, I am on an 8meg setup, at off peak i can get 5-6meg (Sunday mornings at 06.00)!!!
Evenings and weekends I may aswell be on dialup.
I have spoken to Virgin tech several times at 25p per min they are about as useful as a bad cold.
I was told before Christmas they had a few tech problems and was then told \\\"will all be ok after\\\" but they forgot to tell me which Christmas!! now well in to FEB and still as bad, also reading Vigins \\\"smallprint\\\" 400Kb and over is ok for an 8meg setup is ok, well not for me it isn\\\'t, I can\\\'t wait till June to get a MAC.

Don't do it Virgin migration from NTL is terrible. Having done exactly that broadband speeds have significantly dropped despite going from 512k to 8meg - singularity change? They have also just deleted our email accounts without proper warning in writing or by email "because of privacy laws" according to their "customer service" rep. We were told they needed to be changed but "nothing needs to be done now". It's all being done as cheaply as possible - why not transfer all ntlworld e-mail accounts over to virgin.net and ping any emails from the old to the new? because they need to buy the new Lost for their poor alternative to Sky1. Been with virgin 15 years or so. They\'re always poor at support, and could never sort anything out. Their administration has always been confused.
But since November, speed has slumped and I get lots of \"not found\"s, even to google, BBC, and the virgin media homepage! This went on until I\'d finally had enough in Feb 2008. Interestingly, they were very quick at supplying the MAC.
My mother has been trying to set up with them, but had a DAX on her line. They didn\'t push BT and it took 5 months before virgin said the line was in. Despite that, there is still no broadband 2 months later - and they have started taking money, which they won\'t repay

Been with NTL and currently virgin on the 50Mb service(was the 2nd person connected in Norwich @ 1.5Mb then)Connection used to be good with a 4-5 outages over the last 9 years that were sorted pretty quickly. only use their email to send and use router so no virgin software. Since upgrade to 50MB and the installation of the "superhub" or is that superdud I am distinctly unimpressed. I suffered from latency and packet loss issues which had not surfaced previously and the router element of the superhub is not as functional as I am used to. At present I am waiting to see if bridge mode is a possibility as I could then use superhub as a modem and use my own router..stop press: ceo's office have given me back a modem, whoop whhoop (I have returned to 20Mb speed)

update 09/14
Still with VM and currently have recently upgraded to the 152Mb service. Upload has increased noticeably and in recent months the service has been rock solid. one outage over a weekend.

I know that there are plenty of detractors but compared with friends on ADSL I am satisfied. Never use VM email and the bundled tivo box works like a dream though interface not as good as sky's.

Currently happy bunny

The new CEO of Virgin Media, Neil Berkett, has openly stated in an interview that they think net neutrality is "a load of bollocks" and claimed they\'re already doing deals to deliver some people's content faster than others. They would then put websites and services that don\'t pay Virgin in the \"slow lane\", meaning those sites would load slowly and cause most users to give up using them, feeling forced to use whatever Virgin wants to push through their network.

Have been with Virgin since back in the NTL days, and overall when it works, it works well! The few problems I\'ve had are mostly due to the speeds dropping at time during the day, and a few drop which saw us offline for 3 days before Christmas and lead to me getting a BT line installed with a cheap ADSL service as a backup (Im an online trader so need it 24/7). That worked out to have lower latency so Virgin is now our backup line butfFor the money I cant really complain much!

I had 2meg with Utility Warehouse until October 2006 which was fine, then as soon as it was possible, I got Broadband Max which promised 8meg now, and up to 16meg when available. From then on it went down hill. I was getting nowhere near 8meg speeds, but since then it has got gradually slower.I am now getting between 0.5meg and 1.5meg. Worst of all is their customer services. To talk to them it costs YOU 75p per minute, and e-mails take 5 days. They claim that if I ever get 3meg - that is acceptable because that is \"up to 8meg\" . I have been fighting for 5 months, and it has taken 15 days so far to get a MAC code. Can\'t wait to escape.

Excellent value for money, with good speed, services and reliability. Plus you help to fund Free Software (if you like that sort of thing).

However, when I needed help with something as a matter of urgency it all went wrong. I initially got a couple of helpful emails, but most of my follow up emails were ignored, or got unhelpful replies. In all I sent something like 14 emails and got 4 replies.

A good ISP if you don\\\'t encounter any problems but the guy (it seems to be a one-man operation) appears to only provide customer service when he feels like it.

Well I have just joined UKFSN after leaving Fast4. So far UKFSN is superb. Superb speed and reliability. I will edit this if I need to but so far so good.

10 for Services, well I have everything I need including comprehensive information on the central I am connected to.

7 for Support, needed to use and found quite poor but EntaNet was not to bad in assisting me.

10 for Speed, well, WOW! Best I\\\'ve had since being maxed!

10 for Cost, 330Gb for ?20 (30GB Peak, 300Gb Off-Peak) Bargain!

EDIT: Russell from EntaNet managed to sort my SNR issue with BT, unfortunatley UKFSN didn\'t want to know so still only 7 for support.

Just signed up for UKFSN after migrating from Zen. The price is good for Home Max 30 with 30 gb on peak and 300 gb off peak allowance all for ?19.99, you can\'t quibble when the connection is reliable and the speed is consistent throughout the day.

When I say no frills, this ISP is pretty basic; from what I have seen its control panel is pretty mundane and they provide little web space. The webmail is more or less like squirrel mail so don\'t expect anything fancy for the price.

Support seems to be a little lacking and doesn\'t seem to have much in the way of tech support but I have yet to use it so time will tell.

I moved to ADSL24, another of enta\\\'s resellers essentially providing the same service as UKFSN just a different reseller.

The big difference is the support, I found the guy at ADSL24 to be very accommodating during the setup and has dealt with any outages swiftly as you would want, whereas the guy from UKFSN didn't bother to respond to support requests from the start, these were sensible support questions like what is my static IP range and DNS servers.

KeConnect are very good indeed.
I migrated over from Demon whom suffered from poor speeds and customer service. Additionally parts of Demon are based in India. On the other hand, KeConnect are completely in Suffolk.
I called them a couple of times beforehand to see how quickly they respond and was impressed.
Their support is open until 9pm Monday to Friday and also on Saturday which is great. The technical support guy I spoke to last night answered my queries exceptionally well and was very clear. I have marked them down on speed because my line is still \"learning\". I will rate it more apporpriately in two weeks time.
Good so far.

Moved from Pipex and I am so glad I did

The only way I can think of explaining the speed increase is by relating it to uncorking a sparkling wine - Speed wise my connection literally zips along

Customer Service is exceptional, They pick up quickly and answer the most complex of questions, Technical Support I have only called once and again was fantastic service wise, many ISP can learn from KeConnect

They may be a little more expensive then some, but you get what you pay for and they also dont hide behind weird and useless Fair Usage Policies

This is an ISP that does exactly what it says on the tin

I am very Happy

Just wanted to say how impressed and delighted I have been with the service I have received from the Phone Co-op. In particular the help given by the support team has been faultless, speedy, efficient and friendly - far better than any support I have received from suppliers of any product. Service in other respects has been extremely good and quick and I have had no reason at all to criticize or complain. What is more, it is a co-operative. Without hesitation I would highly recommend The Phone Co-op.

I have been with The Phone Co-op for a year now and I have no complaints whatsoever with the services I have recieved.

The connection has been very stable, I would say of above average speed and only has gone down for maybe an hour or two in 12 months. Their prices are also very reasonable and you can sleep happy knowing you are supporting a positive, socially and environmentally aware company as well. They answer their phones promptly as well! I am very happy with them and would happily recommend them to others wishing to find a good ISP.

ADSLMAX service coming soon with faster upload/download speeds should hopefully also be great!

Giving a zero isn\'t an option, otherwise this score would be worse. I was with them for 5 months, and received nothing but headaches. Traffic shaping occured 24/7, and much of my surfing during peak times was slower than dial-up - and that\'s just surfing!

Online games such as Halo were painfully slow, and P2P just isn\'t an option. Then they wanted to charge me ?30 to join their free unlimited forever option, even though it wasn\'t unlimited, at ?30 it obviously wasn\'t free, and \'forever\'? - that\'s just rubbish.

They claim that they want to be the #2 telco choice, but at the core of this company, they know their \"service\" is evil.

Was told when i initially registered, would have to wait 11 weeks. After 10.5 weeks phoned cust serv as i had heard nothing. Was up and running after 2 days. I was ok for 2 weeks before server started going down and kept being being cut off. Rang cust serv dept in India,(i had trouble understanding them and visaversa) Told me to put my cd rom in (but didn\'t work) they then had a word with tech services who promised to phone back in 11 days. What! they didn\'t! Anyway problems seem to have sorted themselves out.Speed is fine. You need loads of patience with talk talk but to pay nothing is fantastic. So the choice is yours.

I signed up in august for talktalk\'s free broadband and admit that i did have to wait 4 - 5 weeks for a go live date, And after a few teething problems (My fault not theirs) i was up and running. I must say that i cannot fault the connection speed of 2.2mbps (belive me this is good for the south wales valleys. I have only one complaint about their support service and that is that you have to pay to phone their support team.
I must say that after a long wait a the initial problems talktalk is now running like a dream, it goes on at around 10am and off about 12am and it goes strong all day.

On TalkTalk with international phone and saving ?40 a month over my Bulldog service.
Phone connected in 4 weeks, broadband 7 weeks (a week longer than told)
Support could not tell me if the line was enabled or not after go live date and before actual connection of broadband.
With my two previous broadband suppliers I had set up problems as well so I expect this as normal. I judge it based on being in over a month.

Since it has been up I have had no problems. Getting 2Mb consistent and that's fine by me.

Based on my experience I have no problems with TalkTalk and if I had to decide again I would still go with TalkTalk.

Been wih Tesco since Anytime dialup for ?12/mo, which would disconnect about every 2 hours.
The price isn\\\'t anything special, at ?20/mo you get 1Mbit unlimited with webspace+e-mail(they lock you in for 12Mnths!).
Other ISPs offer lower prices but they always have bad service.

As for support, it ended up being 5 times before the problem was sorted. And software isn\\\'t great, we\\\'ve had issues with installation and corrupt winsocks/LSPs but blame speedtouch.

But I think it\\\'s pretty good broadband, you get solid, no-strings unlimited, broadband(contract) at a tolerable price with a free modem!

I don\'t normally post to forums like this but I was so enraged by Talk Talk\'s utter ineptitude as an ISP it would have been criminal not to warn others. Indian call centres a go go, bandwidth throttling and a yo-yo ADSL connection are your starters for 10. I profer no racial angle in my call centre comment but Talk Talk\'s Indian based support infrastructure is so poor to be almost comical (If it wasn\'t for your bulding rage at the other end of the phone). I patiently waited till my contract was up and then spent 6 WEEKS (yes 6 , count \'em) trying to get my MAC code. If you value your internet connectivity then stay WELL AWAY from Talk Talk.

I can\'t describe how awful Talktalk\'s customer service is.Technical support is 50 pence a minute and can eat away any savings you may have made on their line rental. The customer services line is perpetually busy and you may be kept on hold for more than 30 minutes.Communication is virtually non-existant.I e-mailed for a MAC code and for 6 weeks was unaware of what was going on.Eventually I got it after 6 weeks and much to my surprise ,I was continued to be billed even after I had migrated to another provider.I wrote several letters sent by registered mail none of which were answered.Stay away if you value your sanity !

Talk talk were recommended by GMTV! as a good sound provider! I have been with them for around two months and the down time on internet connection is catching up with working time! It is constantly breaking off, the repair software always kicks in, and takes ages to complete a check that barely sorts out the problem. As for the phone line!, you have to guess a number and hope it connects to the caller you want to talk to!
NEVER AGAIN.
As for GMTV...What a joke!!
