Broadband ISP O2 has issued a small but interesting network status update that concerns the performance problems with their
Home Access broadband product. Home Access, unlike their superior unbundled ( LLU ) service, is BT based and often receives the brunt of customer complaints.
18/11/2009 - 01:27 O2 Home Access Improvements
We are aware that there is some congestion on the O2 Home Broadband Access network at peak times.
In addition to the Traffic Management we've implemented, we're also working on a permanent fix to go live in the coming few weeks.
We’re grateful for your patience and we expect that you will see an improvement within the next 2 weeks. We're sorry.
Some customers have blamed the Traffic Management itself for causing the problems, so related users will no doubt be interested to see if O2's latest promise truly does improve the service. In related news O2 has warned its Home Broadband users to expect slower speeds this weekend due to some major track side maintenance work.
UPDATE 20th November 2009It's worth pointing out that O2's sibling ISP , Be Broadband , has got an identical announcement up concerning the weekend maintenance (not related to the 'Home Access' update). This makes sense because O2 makes use of the same network for its own services.
