Elfed Thomas, CEO of i3 Group UK, a fibre optic infrastructure specialist, has been announced as a regional winner of the
Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards. The award celebrates people who build and lead successful, growing and dynamic businesses; recognising them through regional, national and global awards programmes in more than 135 cities in 50 countries.
Elfed Thomas said:
"I am delighted to be a finalist for this award as it is a worldwide platform offering a prestigious recognition of individuals and companies.
I was up against serious competition and am extremely grateful to the team at i3 Group who have worked tirelessly to make my vision a reality and apply it on a global scale.
i3 Group has expanded rapidly over the past seven years and myself and my colleagues are keen to continue in our efforts in making the company a world leader."
Formed in 2002 by Elfed Thomas, i3 Group is a pioneer in building dark fibre optic networks using the sewer system to enable super fast broadband internet connectivity. This method is a fast and cost effective way to lay fibre optic cable without the high costs and disruption caused by road digging.
Thomas is in good company. Richard Tang, founder and MD of Zen Internet UK, was recently named North and Midlands Regional winner for the same award. Both will now take their place for the overall finals to be held in London on 18th October.
