Mobile Broadband operator
FREEDOM4 WiFi UK, which only two weeks ago was branded "
loss-making" and became the subject of an existing management buyout from parent ISP
Daisy Group for a nominal amount of money, has now launched a wholesale Wi-Fi service for small and medium sized service providers today.
The wholesale product will allow resellers, ISPs and telco's to offer Wi-Fi wireless internet access products alongside existing services such as broadband and VoIP or to offer Wi-Fi as a standalone service.
Adrian Cunliffe, CTO says:
"What makes this different from previous wholesale services is that this comes with a complete set of easy to integrate APIs allowing you to get setup in just a few hours."
FREEDOM4 Wi-Fi, which is also in the running for a Mobile Broadband gong later this week at the ISPA awards, has access to over 80,000 public Wi-Fi Hotspots in 80 countries. To date only a small number of fixed line broadband ISPs have bundled Wi-Fi Hotspot or Mobile Broadband access with their packages.
The service comes with a generic branded ConnectionManager, which indicates when Hotspot Access is available through one of F4's partnered networks and gives users a consistent experience across all hotspots, so overcoming issues such as language barriers and having to know which networks are accessible in any one location.
FREEDOM4 WiFi added that as part of the launch they would waive the standard setup fee and give 100 ConnectionManager licences away at no cost to ISPs who sign up before the end of July, which makes entry into the market a lot more affordable.
