The ITU has released its latest flagship annual report into global Information and Communication Technology (ICT) uptake, which found that the price of broadband had fallen by 52% between 2008 and 2010, meanwhile the UK ranked just 4th in the world for fixed line internet access speeds.

A new website has launched in Europe, RespectMyNet, which allows consumers to report whether or not their broadband ISP or mobile operator is imposing service limits that break Net Neutrality (the principal of treating all internet traffic as equal).

A new study from Acision and YouGov has found that 54% of UK Mobile Broadband customers suffered slow speeds (down from 67% in 2010) and 42% experienced connection problems (down from 45% in 2010.

A global study of broadband internet download speeds across 224 countries has revealed that the UK sits just above the average with a rate of 599KBps (4.69Mbps if you prefer). By contrast South Korea is the fastest on 2,202KBps (17.62Mbps) and the Congo is the slowest at a measly 13KBps.

UK ISP TalkTalk has come top in Ofcom's latest table of the most complained about fixed line phone and broadband providers, with Three (3) coming up worst for mobile operators. By contrast both Virgin Media and O2 won praise for receiving the least complaints.

BT has confirmed that it will not deploy Seamless Rate Adaptation (SRA) technology to improve the performance of its ADSL2+ based broadband ISP services in the UK, although it is using an alternative method called Quantisation. Techno babble time.

The UK government has finally corrected their target speed for superfast broadband services, which until recently had been stated as 20Mbps on their Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) office glossary. However the benchmark was actually raised to 25Mbps in May 2011 and this has now been reflected in a snap update.
