The city of Portsmouth (3.554 Megabits per second) has today come top in a new study of the UK's top 30 fastest Mobile Broadband (3G) cities, which have been ranked by their average internet download speed. Sadly London came near the bottom.

UK telecoms operator BT has been forced to send out replacements for its superfast broadband FTTC (VDSL2) modems (Huawei EchoLife HG612) after an overheating fault was discovered that could result in a "total loss of service".

Europe has closed its internet privacy infringement case against the UK, which related to ISP abuse of Phorm's targeted advertising system, after the country amended its national legislation (RIPA) so as to prevent interception of users' electronic communications without their "explicit consent".
