CityFibre, which owns the contract for deploying a 1Gigabit per second (500Mbps uploads) capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) fibre optic broadband network in the south coast city of Bournemouth (England), has today announced the launch of a new ISP called Gigler to help deliver the service to consumers.

Sky Broadband (BSkyB) customers will soon be able to get their hands on the new Sky Hub (SR101) wireless router, which will feature a number of new features like Smart Signal Wireless technology and a uniquely branded design. Sadly existing members will have to pay extra for it. Details follow.

BTOpenreach has announced a new short term process change for ISP customers, which is designed to help cope with the on-going engineer delays (caused by bad weather). The new initiative aims to give certain business customers a faster provision of service (phone and broadband) but only if it’s absolutely necessary.

The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) will from today officially begin enforcing a new rule that requires ISPs to ensure that the cost of any compulsory phone line rental service is “stated sufficiently prominently” alongside adverts for related broadband bundles.
