Superfast Essex Project Gets New Website and Postcode Checker

The £25 million Superfast Essex project, which is working to make BT’s “fibre broadband” (FTTC/P) network available to around 87% of local homes and businesses by the end of summer 2016, has launched a revamped site that now includes a postcode based availability checker. But precise details of the roll-out are still extremely thin.

As expected Gigaclear has today begun to deploy their new 1000Mbps (Megabits per second) capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH/P) based fibre optic broadband ISP network out to rural residents of Underriver village and the surrounding areas in Kent (England).

Better Broadband for Suffolk UK Publishes 2nd Open Market Review

The £40m Better Broadband to Suffolk project in England, which aims to roll-out BT’s “fibre broadband” (FTTC/P) network to more than 90% of local homes and businesses by the end of 2015 (note: 85% will get “superfast” speeds of 24Mbps+), has published the results from its second Open Market Review (OMR) which focuses on the future plans to reach around 95% by 2017.

ISP Zen Internet Sorry After 11k UK Users Hit by 8 Hour Broadband Outage

Popular ISP Zen Internet has apologised after 11,000 of its broadband customers (FTTC and ADSL etc.) were left without service for nearly 8 hours on Sunday (27th April 2014) after a fibre optic cable broke. Sadly the provider’s network then failed to transfer affected services over to alternative circuits.
