The London focused fixed wireless (4G) broadband ISP, Relish (UK Broadband Ltd.), has today released an interesting if not particularly scientific piece of promotional material that involves a representative from the provider offering £50 to anybody who actually knows their land line telephone number.

The Government’s Broadband Delivery UK programme, which is working with BT and local councils in order to help make “superfast broadband” speeds of 24Mbps+ available to 95% of the population by 2017, is hoping to foster take-up of the new service by making consumers more aware of its existence.

The Sevenoaks Prep School in Kent (England) has become one of the first customers to benefit from Gigaclear’s new Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH/P) broadband network, which as part of the local and slightly delayed Underriver Project can now deliver speeds of up to 1000Mbps (Megabits per second) to local homes and businesses.

Plans to extend the joint £94 million Connecting Devon and Somerset (England) project have been cast into doubt again after several district councils expressed concern at BT’s requirement that they sign “gagging orders” (Non-Disclosure Agreements) and the operators alleged inability to guarantee that residents in their area would receive access to faster broadband speeds.
