Alternative network ISP Call Flow Solutions has signed a new deal that will see it deploying ADTRAN’s next generation 10Gbps (Gigabits per second) symmetric Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH/P) broadband solution, which is based off the latest XGS-PON (ITU-T G.9807.1) standard.

A new survey conducted by the National Farmers Union with 800 farmers across the United Kingdom has found that just 6% have access to “superfast” broadband download speeds and 85% have an “unreliable” outdoor mobile phone signal.

German telecoms giant Deutsche Telekom and ADTRAN, which supplies the kit being used in various broadband roll-outs around the world, have conducted lab trials of the new hybrid-fibre G.fast technology using the 212MHz and coordinated Dynamic Time Allocation (cDTA) upgrades.

The North Skye Broadband (NSB) project, which had been planning to deploy a B4RN-like fibre optic broadband network to 2,000 rural premises on the Northern side of the Isle of Skye in Scotland, has given up its application for significant state aid support after facing repeated delays.

The South Gloucestershire Council in England, which is already working with Openreach (BT) to extend “superfast broadband” (24Mbps+) coverage to 97% of the region by December 2017, has signed a new £3m contract that will benefit a further 4,300 premises (3,800 via FTTP).
