Customers of low cost ISP Plusnet have today been informed that the price they pay for their broadband and phone bundles will be increased from 29th June 2017, which is a move that follows a similar development from parent operator BT (here) at the start of this year.

Utility provider SSE (Southern Electric), which also does phone and internet services, has cut the price of their unlimited ‘up to’ 38Mbps (FTTC) “Superfast Fibre Broadband” package (includes line rental) to £33.50 per month for the first 18 months of service (£38 thereafter).

A new survey from YouGov has suggested that around 4.9 million of the United Kingdom’s broadband connected adults use pirated TV streaming services via platforms such as “illegal Kodi boxes, Amazon Fire TV Chipped Sticks, and illegal streaming apps on smartphones and tablets.”

Alternative fibre optic network builder Cityfibre has posted their final results to the end of 2016, which reveals that their “completed” cable duct and fibre optic network (FTTP) footprint has increased to 3,383km (up from 743km in 2015) and they now serve 3,962 customer premises (up from 1,200).

A new Opinium survey of 2,006 “nationally representative” UK adults has claimed that 25% of UK employees have had issues with their broadband or mobile services when working from home over the last year and 46% of those have experienced such severe problems that they’ve given up on it.

A new online survey of 1,134 ISPreview.co.uk readers has found that 43.2% of fixed line broadband and 47.3% of Mobile using respondents have never tried to cut their bills by negotiating a lower price with their provider, with many being discouraged by concerns over time and call centres etc.
