Hybrid fibre cable operator Virgin Media Business has this morning moved to top their consumer division’s recently launched 300Mbps home broadband package (here) by introducing a new “VOOM Fibre” product, which offers a top download speed of 350Mbps (20Mbps upload) to SMEs.

The UK communications regulator, Ofcom, has today set out their final plans for opening up Openreach’s (BT) national network of telegraph poles and underground cable ducts so that they can be used by rival ISPs in order to deploy ultrafast “full fibre” broadband (FTTH/P) services.

BT has announced that broadband TV customers who are still using their old ‘Vision’ set-top-box (IPTV) will have to adopt the newer YouView based kit because the content for their older hardware is slowly being removed, with all extra channels and VOD set to be gone by the end of 2017.
