A new report claims that the Government’s £1.2bn Emergency Services Network (ESN), which will be delivered by mobile operator EE using 4G technology (supported by Motorola Solutions and KBR), could be facing a significant delay of several years before achieving completion.

Mobile operator EE has today rejected criticism from rival O2, which claimed that their plan to become the first in the UK to launch a commercial 5G mobile network would only result in a “lite” version of the future ultrafast mobile broadband technology (i.e. missing key features).

Business communications provider FluidOne, which also supplies a number of ISPs, has launched its new software defined network solution called Platform One, which claims to aggregate and integrate the fixed line, broadband, mobile and wireless services of “just about every major supplier in the UK“.

The Scottish Government‘s Rural Economy Secretary, Fergus Ewing, has pledged to quit if he fails to deliver on the new £600m R100 project, which aspires to make “superfast broadband” (30Mbps+) ISP networks available to “every single premise in Scotland” by the end of 2021 (here and here); March 2022 as a financial year.
