The annual Uswitch.com Awards 2020 took place last night, which among other categories saw budget focused UK ISP NOW TV scoop the win for “Broadband Provider of the Year“, while Virgin Media once again grabbed “Fastest Broadband Provider” and Sky Mobile were named “Network of the Year.” Read on for the full list.
As usual the comparison site appears to have selected its winners via a combination of methods. Most of the awards were decided based on a survey of 12,007 UK consumers (conducted between 4th to 11th November 2019), while several other categories were chosen by a panel of judges (almost all are journalists from across the tech sector) and the ‘Fastest Mobile Network’ award was based on analysis derived from Opensignal.
On top of that we note that the ‘Most Popular Broadband Provider‘ and ‘Most Popular Mobile Network‘ awards were calculated using both the consumer panel survey and uSwitch sales, although it’s unclear how much statistical significance was assigned to data from the latter.
As usual smaller broadband ISPs were alas almost nowhere to be seen in the award selection, which is why Virgin Media ended up being named as the fastest provider despite being unable to match the symmetrical Gigabit speeds of Hyperoptic, B4RN, Community Fibre and Gigaclear etc. We thus recommend taking these results with the usual pinch of salt.

My feeling too. Can’t trust this list.
PN are a proud company!
Proud of what …?!
Completely agree Paul, I left when one of there customer services officers shouted at me down the phone. So much for service.
The article says “UK ISP Plusnet scoop the win for “Broadband Provider of the Year“”, yet the table beneath is says Now TV won that award…
Something is incorrect somewhere.
Oops.. fixed.
Hmm that’s interesting to see Now TV beating Sky.. no contract too.
Agree with some of the others but not all.
