Hyperoptic UK Engineers Training Near Truck 2022

City-focused full fibre (FTTP/B) provider Hyperoptic, which claims to have built their gigabit broadband network to cover 2 million UK homes (mostly across blocks of flats / MDUs), has revealed that their losses for the year to 31st Dec 2025 increased to £172.24m and they’re trying to seek a solution to £98m in maturing debt.

A new report from the cross-party Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee has warned that the “current TV licence fee is outdated and no longer fit for purpose” and that “all” of the alternatives have drawbacks. The report instead proposes a Household Levy that would no longer be linked to a TV set, could be cheaper than the current licence and would cover other services (broadband?).

Broadband and mobile customers of Vodafone UK may like to know that the telecoms provider has today made their new pay TV product available to take, which is said to be priced from an additional £10 a month, or subscribers can get their ‘TV Essential‘ plan – including Netflix and HBO Max – for £17 a month.

The Competition and Markets Authority has published its preliminary findings for their fast-tracked Phase 2 investigation into the £2bn acquisition of full fibre broadband network Netomnia (Substantial Group) by the parents of nexfibre and Virgin Media (O2). Overall the CMA found the deal would result in a “substantial lessening of competition (SLC) in the wholesale supply of fixed broadband services.”
