UK ISP Grain Connect launch Black Friday broadband discounts

New customers of Carlisle-based broadband provider Grain, which has built their point-to-point full fibre (FTTP) network to cover 300,000 UK premises and connect 60,000 customers, have this week launched their Black Friday discounts that offer up to 50% off the normal price of selected packages.

Over three years have passed since the Scottish Government (SG) and PSD Scotland awarded BT a £350m contract over 6-years to upgrade the Scottish Wide Area Network (SWAN). The build phase has now completed, which means that over 5,000 sites (hospitals, GP surgeries, councils, pharmacies etc.) can now benefit from faster and more reliable connectivity.

Some good news to start the week. Existing customers of broadband, TV and phone provider Virgin Media (O2) will be pleased to learn that, come the end of their existing contract term, they are now much more likely to be offered a significantly more affordable renewal deal than before. Some customers have reported seeing out-of-contract deals fall significantly in price.
