ISP Plusnet Slash Unlimited Fibre Broadband and Phone to £23.50

A flash sale has cropped up on Plusnet’s UK website that reduces their range of unlimited home broadband and phone bundle prices to their lowest level in a long time, although these will only be available to order by new customers until Monday 4th June 2018 next week.

Low cost UK ISP Plusnet and partner John Lewis have joined several other providers by revealing what their average advertised broadband download speeds will become when the new guidelines are adopted next Wednesday. They’ll also be the first to include an average for upload speed (well done).

Ofcom 2018 Study – Average Home Broadband Speeds Hit 46.2Mbps

Ofcom has published their annual study of fixed line home broadband ISP speeds across the United Kingdom, which reveals that the average download rate has risen from 36.2Mbps last year to 46.2Mbps now, while uploads hit 6.2Mbps (up from 4.3Mbps). Sadly the gap between urban and rural areas persists.

Ofcom has published their annual study of service quality, call waiting times, complaints and service provision among the largest UK ISPs and Mobile operators, which among other things found that Plusnet had the longest call waiting times (7:50 mins) and the highest broadband satisfaction (86%).

A new study into the impact on broadband ISP download speeds of peak (afternoon) vs off-peak (morning/daytime) internet usage at the largest six broadband providers in the United Kingdom has revealed that Plusnet suffers the biggest proportional drop in performance, while oddly TalkTalk got faster.

ISP Plusnet Confirm 2018 Round of Annual Broadband Price Rises

Customers of low cost UK ISP Plusnet are facing another round of annual price rises on their broadband and phone bundles, which will see the monthly cost of related packages increase by +£1 from 5th June 2018. On top of that the cost of making phone calls is also set to increase.

A new Mystery Shopper study conducted by consumer magazine Which? has revealed that major broadband ISPs are only giving the required information about connection speeds under Ofcom’s Code of Practice (CoP) less than half (47%) of the time, with some (e.g. TalkTalk) doing worse than others.

UK ISP PlusNet Business has reduced the price of their ‘up to’ 76Mbps (19Mbps upload) FTTC based “Unlimited Business Fibre Broadband” and phone line rental package to just £33.50 +vat a month for the first 12 months of service (£47.5 thereafter), which will be available to order until 3rd April 2018.

uSwitch 2018 Awards Name the UK Best Mobile and Broadband ISPs

The annual uSwitch.com Awards 2018 were held last night, which saw budget ISP Plusnet pick-up the most wins for fixed line home broadband services and giffgaff grab the largest number of awards for their mobile service. Meanwhile NOW TV was named as the best TV provider.

Ookla 2018 Study Awards the UK Fastest Mobile and Broadband ISPs

Ookla, which runs the popular Speedtest.net service, has today published their annual ‘Speedtest Market Report‘ for the United Kingdom. Overall the country ranked 29th in the world for average fixed line broadband ISP speeds (Virgin Media is the fastest) and just 46th for mobile (EE is the fastest).

Bad News for TalkTalk and Post Office in Ofcom Complaints Study Q3 2017

The UK telecom regulator’s latest Q3 2017 consumer complaints report has named and shamed TalkTalk for attracting the most gripes in the fixed ISP broadband sector, while the Post Office suffered the same for landline phone services and Vodafone took the most heat for Mobile.
