It's a well known fact that Sky and
Virgin Media have become increasingly bitter rivals over the past few months following several high profile disputes. So it shouldn't be a surprise when Sky decides to comment on yesterdays 20Mbps speed boost by Virgin:
A Sky spokesperson said: "
Virgin Media is pushing up broadband prices at a time when dramatic savings are available from other providers. Sky customers can enjoy download speeds of up to 16Mb per second for just £10 per month - less than a third of the price of Virgin Media's fastest service. No wonder that in the last three months of 2006, Sky added almost twice as many broadband customers as Virgin Media."
It's worth pointing out that the "cable" based nature of Virgin's service allows them to offer much faster natural (true) speeds than Sky's ADSL equivalent.
We shouldnt have to mention that it's always bad to choose an ISP based purely on price and Sky also FORCES you to take up their satellite TV service, hence the total cost is considerably more than they make out above.
Meanwhile most ordinary consumers probably find this continued squabbling between operators somewhat tiresome.
