O2 (
Be Broadband) has released its latest quarterly results to the end of December 2008, highlighting a continuation of its meteoric rise in broadband subscribers from 267,090 in Q3 to 340,866 in Q4. This is no doubt due to their low price and comparatively good quality service balance.
Unlike some of the largest UK ISPs, which have seen a decline or slowdown in high-speed services uptake,
O2 has actually reported yet another growth increase from Q3-2008's +72,870 net additions to +73,776 for Q4. They're still some way behind 6th place
Orange in our
Top 10 ISPs by Subscriber Size list, but gaining fast while
Orange itself remains in decline.
Overall
O2 outperformed the UK market yet again in difficult economic times with over 10% growth in both revenues and OIBDA.
O2 is also working to increase broadband capacity at several locations around the UK (
news), while sibling
Be Broadband is busy preparing for a major rebrand.
