X-Systems Management has launched the start of a new rural broadband wireless LAN ISP. The service, which is hoping to go national, is based of the 2.4GHz radio frequency and offers speeds of between 1 and 4Mbps:
A spokesman for the company said it was inviting home users in rural areas, community groups and business to register their interest on its site.
Even at X-Broadband's minimum speed, the service is still around eight times faster than BT's recently announced 'Mid-band' ISDN package and requires only 50 users to trigger the cost effective installation.
Monthly subscriptions to X-Systems Broadband start at £25 (not £30 as stated in the company's original release) for the 1Mbps service. Set-up costs £149 per household. Backhaul connections would be over either satellite or leased-line links, as appropriate.Sadly the groups website doesn't hold much in the way of detailed information, indeed despite the press release, the service itself has yet to be made available.
