Unsurprisingly Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) website browser software has continued to dominate the market with a clear majority share.
However a new article @
BBC News Online takes a look at some of the alternatives, such as Mozilla/Netscape and Opera.
Such browsers have come on leaps and bounds in the last few years and are slowly starting to edge their way into the market:
There is also a teenager whose homebuilt browser is attracting a lot of attention.
Adnan Osmani, a 16-year-old from Ireland, has designed XWebs. He says it is five times faster than anything else but he would not demonstrate it to us.
"I designed a browser because I didn't feel that other browsers like Internet Explorer and Netscape were fast enough and they didn't have enough features in them that users would find useful," he said.The article may be basic, yet it does make for a good introduction to some of the choices on offer.
IE may still dominate for some time to come, yet many of the alternative browsers have equally good rendering quality and yet work faster.
