Like so many, in the past I had been burned by major ISPs poor service, and went through a few smaller companies. I was with Firefly, who got taken over and went kaput leaving us without service over one Christmas. Aquiss stepped up and offered to take us on for no charge then and I decided to try it. That was about 13 or so years ago or more.
In that time, I've had precisely two outages - one for about 90 minutes and another over a weekend - neither were anything to do with their end and both were quickly communicated as a problem by their end.
When I set up with them they were more than helpful and spent quite some time offering us some help with a couple of problems. Since then they have been flawless. I have rung them a couple of times just to ask a couple of questions and each time they answer immediately. They're very knowledgeable and helpful. More than I've experienced anywhere else.
Recently I switched over to a FTTC service which was slightly cheaper and faster and the changeover again was flawless. Come the day, engineer arrive, does his business and Aquiss' login details were entereed and just worked instantly.
They're not the cheapest, but being disabled and stuck at home, I'm more than happy to pay a bit more for this level of reliability.
I doubt you could do better than them and Martin frankly is a real gem.

I have been using one of the Aquiss basic home packages over OpenReach for my wfh and entertainment needs for the last two years.
I wanted a simple contract, with no price increases, the ability of using and controlling my own router, static IP, a reliable service and decent price. I couldn't be more happy with Aquiss and on top of that I also received great advice from them on which router to purchase and very clear and effective communication during the installation.
I had no whatsoever faults in the last two years and I am probably the only one of my colleagues in the UK that never experienced issues in working from home with a perfectly stable connection.

Title: Top class
I've had aquiss for a year now, I've not had a single fault. Their website has instructions for opensense (pfsense) and these worked right away.

When there has been an outage or an issue with the potential to cause outage they let me know, but I've been at work when this has happened.

It would be nicer if it was cheaper, but stuck on open reach/BT infrastructure I can't fault them.

You can actually talk with them as well.

Title: Amazing
I have to say I am so impressed with this company. I've read really positive reviews online and when I ordered (perhaps cynical of the hype) I also noted near a perfect service/ installation in Edinburgh /the setup experience was flawless... Hopefully Aquiss will upgrade to 5 gbps soon / but I am absolutely thrilled by my decision to switch to them from Yayzi. Thanks so much & well done. Martin, you've outdone yourself... Thanks Dave C

I've been with Aquiss for about a year now, and it's been completely incident-free. I have a SoGEA service (FTTC) and I've never once found my actual throughput to differ from my sync speed, I've got a static IPv4 address and IPv6 /48 block, all brilliant, very happy.

The other morning though, I woke up to find my internet out. Line was synced but PPPoE was dead, felt like it might be my first ISP issue. I had to go to work but when I arrived I called Aquiss to let them know, expecting to hit a standard Tier 1 Supportbot asking me to turn my device off and on again. Instead, I got a lady who immediately began checking the service from her end. She explained that they didn't have any other outages reported, and everything else she could see, and that she would have it pass it on to Openreach for a line check. At this point I'm already getting better service than from any other ISP I've been with so far.

The issue was resolved just after midday after Aquiss chose to escalate it because Openreach were taking their time, and I got a call back just to confirm my settings and everything to make sure I went live. This level of attention and service is something I'd expect at business rates but never dream of on my home connection.

Very highly recommended!

Echoing the other reviews - Aquiss is a first class ISP - Quality, reliable connection at a fair price (even a great price with joining offers)

Moving from other Cityfibre providers with less than stellar reliability Aquiss has been the ISP I've been looking for years. It just works, no messing about, no need to contact support just great speeds 24x7.

Highly recommended - Won't be looking anywhere else.

I feel almost compelled to write this after reading the previous review slating Aquiss.

This is my second time being an Aquiss customer and from pre-install I was welcomed back with something that doesn't exist in customer relations these days an actual personal touch from the owner of a company who has been in the industry for many years and is more than well respected.

Any time I have picked up the phone regarding the one major outage I have had which ended up being a full Cityfibre outage it was Martin I spoke with and he kept me completely informed and was clearly working very hard to resolve the issue in what manner he could.

In terms of what Vodafone could offer me for the same package Max Speed on Cityfibre I am paying Less per month by quite an amount. Fair enough I've supplied my own router but I would never get this kind of personal touch or quick reply to issues from Vodafone or any other larger provider and all the other smaller providers.

All in Aquiss provide me a fantastic service.

I've been with this ISP for a while, and while the internet connection itself is mostly reliable, the support experience has eroded any sense of value I used to feel.

When everything’s working, it’s fine. But the real test of any provider is how they respond when things don’t work. That’s where this company falls short.

The main issue is with how support – particularly through Martin, the managing director – is handled. Rather than helping, Martin often comes across as defensive and evasive, using technical jargon in a way that feels more like deflection than explanation. There’s a clear lack of ownership; problems are always someone else’s fault – the hardware, the weather, third parties – anything but the company itself.

Over time, this approach has chipped away at any trust I had in their support. When you're made to feel like you're being talked down to instead of helped, and every conversation feels like damage control rather than problem-solving, it becomes hard to believe anything you're told.

For the price I’m paying, I expect a service that takes responsibility and treats customers with honesty and respect – not spin. That’s where this ISP fails.

Overall: 2/5 – Decent connection, but disappointing and untrustworthy support. You pay premium rates for below-par accountability.

Response From Aquiss - 24th Jun, 2025

Good Morning,

I'm sorry to have woken up to this review. I am honestly somewhat taken a little back by it's context and wording, as it both takes aim personally at myself, but then the company as a whole. I have no idea who you are or where I have lowered by own personal high standards to come across as defensive or evasive, with anyone, however I can't learn or reflect if I/we can do better without understanding the context that has brought you to write this review.

I, like the rest of my team, want customers to be happy and we work so hard to address all concerns and problems, both professionally and at a level we believe both parties understand. Your words hurt personally and I know will be playing on my mind for most of the day. If you truly feel we are no longer providing you with trustworthy service and that we lack honestly and respect (your words), then I would like to understand how and where we have fallen short.
