Title: Metronet
Metronet are truly rubbish. My service went down and I called their \'24/7\' helpline every day for 2 weeks and never got through. My service was down for month and in the end when I did finally get through I requested my MAC code. They have charged for the month my service was down. I was only with them for 6 months and paid a ?70 connection fee. Appalling.

I have been with Metronet for nearly two years and never had a single problem (that wasn\'t my fault) until....... PlusNet took over. If you are thinking of going to Metronet DON\'T.

The support is non existent (hadn\'t needed until now) they have introduced some sort of problem into my connection which means I can no longer play some online games because the latency is soooo high. Worst of all thay won\'t even communicate about it so I fear that very soon I am moving somewhere else.

Used to be V Happy with Metronet. Since PlusNet takeover attitude appears to have changed. Improvements ? may be more to make their own life easier(whatever happened to being able to make payments on your account instead of them taking the payment - why no Direct Debit then ?). Customer Support (when they get round to answering) not as cheerful and helpful as they were - positively aggressive and downright rude this week. Seem to have more snags lately - had a failure this week - entire network out for hours before they migrated everyone to PlusNet whilst they fixed it. Looking for a new ISP now - Metronet no longer seems the best option.

Metronet have lost the plot since PlusNet take over.
I was with PlusNet several years ago and left them because of their in ability to manage payments correctly. I was wondering how long it would take for it to happen again.
It was the first month of the take over and double usage payments were taken whilst trying to get this resolved they have taken another double usage payment. Finally got the first error resolved and they have now double charge me double for the mail box.
It is obvious that their support do not read the content of the tickets because they have now terminated my registration and cannot tell me why.

Title: Time To Go
I\'ve been with Metronet since Oct 05 and had absolutely no problems till they were taken over by Plusnet. Since then I had the odd intermittent outage which gradually got worse and worse and now sometimes lasts for days on end, usually over the weekends when you cant contact them.
You can never get through to their customer service by phone, a recorded message always says its busy and doesnt give you a chance to hold on and wait or leave your details for a call back. You have to use their \"Contact Us\" page on their website, and it takes a number of days for them to respond.
Such a pity a good ISP has been dragged down by being taken over

Sorry to appear to jump on the Bandwagon, but, like most of the recent posters, I have been with MN for a couple of years now & always thought it was an excellent no-frills service. However, since the takeover, performance often drops below dial-up levels (12k last week), and the inclusion of an aggressive AUP removed one of the main selling points of this ISP. Ironically, I recently found myself subject to MN\'s new traffic management but my connection speed is already so bad it made no difference! I now have my MAC code and am migrating to Lixxus who appear to have a pricing structure like the \'old MN\' without the aggressive AUP.

But what happened to them?

Before plusnet the services were great. Now every two weeks my connection is down for 12 hours.

The support is a joke: no way to contact them by phone. I wonder if there really have a call center... ????

During the billing system migration they lost my payment. Two weeks of fight!! After two weeks they found my payment.

I\'m going to cancel my contract. So so sad... Metronet is broken.

I have been with Plusnet for a few months now on Option 2.

Support on the one problem I had was good and they admitted a fault at their end and corrected it quickly.

I really can't fault this package for the price.

I have nothing but praise for these guys. I have been with them since the old dial-up days when they were Globalnet. Tech support is good and connection is always fast and reliable. The main company they trade under is Plusnet if I am not mistaken.

I've just renewed my broadband for another year with Madasafish, and have been very happy with the service.

Connections are reliable - only had difficult connecting one time in a year, and after I queried them via support this was resolved pretty quickly. The connection speed is fine, cannot expect to get faster connection given where I live. The speed we get is what the initial test results indicated we would get.

Getting started was actually much quicker than I expected. After signing up we received the free router etc, and got an email with an estimated connection date (about 10 days I think). We were actually connected and up and running in a matter of days.

They have a range of packages based on three levels of monthly usage, but the thing I liked most was that if you go over your monthly limit the charge per extra GB download was much lower than most providers, so you don't get heavily penalised for heavier use. Also you can set up email alerts to let you know when you're approaching your monthly limit - that way you know in advance about any charges for extra usage, which I found really useful.

At the moment they offer a 6-month discount of their broadband, and this is available to existing customers as well (I just renewed after our first full year, and am on the discounted rate for the next 6 months). You have to commit to a 12-month contract to get the discount period.

Support responses via email are fairly quick. The only issues I've had are to do with billing, and this is the only area they could do with improving. In terms of the technical side they are great, but I had a couple of annoying minor issues with billing (had to re-enter my bank details after a few months). Emails to support soon got the billing stuff resolved though.

Overall, very pleased with the service - reliable, flexible and good value. Would be happy to recommend to others.
