Title: OK
Seems OK: the speeds I get are appalling, but that's not really their fault. Customer service is OK

Worst company in the world. I changed my bank details using their website...next thing you know they have cut off my broadband due to non payment. do you think i could sort it out? Couldnt find anyone to talk any sense. Fastest way to get back on the web was to phone a rival company. Not only was talktalk useless but rude as well.

I signed up to Tesco Broadband on Friday 13th September and on Friday 20th September the broadband was on.

Ping around 38 ms, download speed around 11 Mbps and upload speed around 0.80 Mbps.

Toady I called customer services to request to set up Tesco webmail for me. The phone was answered promptly and I had Tesco webmail set up in couple of minutes.

I would say Tesco Broadband provides hasle free basic service.

Title: Just Lies
I tired signing up as their deal was tempting. Had nothing but hassle. Told I needed a new line and number, when I questioned it they decided I didn't and could use my existing line and number. They confirmed in writing an activation date. When it got to the activation date nothing happened. I questioned it and was told that it wasnt going to happen because there was an issue with the service and I would need to sign up again. Despite even having the activation date confirmed. 2 hours later, randomly a BT Engineer turned up to install a new line into the building. Which I did not want and was told didn't need. Overall shocking, got lied to several times and still have no broadband or no end in sight. So have cancelled and gone with a proper company. My advice... AVOID

One day I hope to be able to review the actual TalkTalk connection, but in the meantime we're still waiting for a complete installation and maybe even for a little glimmer of competence or interest from TalkTalk staff.

Our initial installation failed due to a fault at the exchange with the technician explaining that there would likely be a lot of people off in the area. He told to to contact TalkTalk later that afternoon.

On contacting TalkTalk, not only did they not have any clue what was going on but they were totally uninterested in finding out. Every time I call they just want to get me off the line. Eventually I did get a call from the 'back office' team who actually contacted BT Openreach to get a real update. The first and only time any member of staff ever took any interest. Also about the only time one spoke English! (He also had an English name for the first time!)

To cut a long story short. BT Openreach were waiting for parts to arrive but TalkTalk just left us hanging, no communication, no update, nothing. When we did get an appointment for the completed installation we phoned the night before to confirm and were told that the appointment hadn't been confirmed so we had to wait another 10 days. A few days before that appointment we get an SMS delaying the appointment followed by a letter telling us that there was no appointment.

In my latest call to clarify the situation, the call centre manager "Rajesh", either didn't speak enough English or was totally uninterested in my issues. he scripted apologies felt insincere and well rehearsed. He did not investigate properly and responded to my request to open a complaint with, "Thank you for calling talktalk, goodbye!".

To add insult to injury, because "the first part of the service has gone live", meaning they connected a phone line, we cannot cancel this farce without a £160 cancellation fee!

I only wish we'd visited this site first to find out just how poor TT are before embarking upon this misadventure!

This ISP is not only bad at providing broadband, it sets the standard of how not to run a (any) business.

Rude, incompetent, inconsistent, dishonest, and unprofessional are only the foundations of what must be the worse company in the world. You dream of dealing with Basil Fawlty after talking to someone (everyone) at Talk-Talk.

Do the world a favour and help force this business to close as soon as possible.

(First review I've ever written, hopefully the last!)

I don't normally write reviews but felt I had to voice my experience of Talktalk after reading so many bad reviews. I have noticed that the larger providers do quite badly in surveys, maybe it's a case of the happy customers have no need to write a review.

Service: ADSL2+ £6.50 + line rental per month

Pros:
Very cheap
No messing about during installation
13Mbs download even at peak time
Not gone down since started in April
Wireless router works well (Huewei model)

Cons:
Nearly 4 week wait to get installed
Upload speed is a bit slow (under 1 Mbs)
Ping is around 40-45ms

Maybe
Call centre in India (does not bother me as they solved my billing problem quickly)I don't really like the idea of overseas call centres but if it keeps my broadband cheap then so be it.

Do yourself a favour, go somewhere else. I never even got to be a proper customer. After weeks of messing around, cancelling orders, replacing orders, waiting for engineer visit, non delivery of router and welcome packs, being deliberately lied to on several occasions, they still couldn't sort out the problems. In the end I discovered the issue myself by using details they gave me and setting up an online account. I immediately noticed that the address was completely wrong, in fact it didn't even exist. This is despite my confirming with them on half a dozen occasions that it was in fact correct!
Did they fall over themselves to get it sorted? Not a bit of it. It would take 5-7 working days to change the address that they had screwed up to the correct one and then a further 3 weeks (maybe)for activation. Not going to happen, cancelled everything. I spent around 4 hours on the phone and was passed around to dozens of idiots in foreign call centres who clearly didn't have a clue what they were on about.

Turns out when another ISP checked the line it didn't in fact need an engineer visit at all. It appears they (TT) were checking a non existent line, how does that work?! All in all, it was a complete and utter shambles from start to finish.

Personally I wouldn't touch them again with somebody else's bargepole! Nightmare!

Did I mention that they set up two separate Direct Debits on my account? Despite one of those orders being cancelled (because I found out the first order had not been cancelled as I'd been told) within an hour... Got to get the important bits right, eh? Nice!

As I was setting this up for my daughter I had to give them my address to send the cancellation notice to. Knowing how they screwed up the installation address I spelled it out to her, literally letter for letter. she then proceeded to repeat it back to me wrong, TWICE!

Honestly, you couldn't make it up! Like I all ready said, Nightmare!

Further edit:

After having cancelled the first two Direct Debits, I found later that day that a THIRD Direct Debit had been placed on my account, unbelievable!!!

I have now instructed my bank to block any further attempts from Talktalk to place DDs on my account without my express permission, and trust me, that is never going to happen.

Furthermore, on contacting Talktalk to confirm the cancellation status after receiving the third DD, I learned that they still do not have the correct address for the original installation! And again I find out that they still insist on getting my correspondence address WRONG, AGAIN!

Anyway, it turns out that although I was speaking to "cancellations" they were unable to confirm that the cancellations had actually been done! The best I could get was "They probably have"! So there could be more to come yet.

And I thought people were exaggerating about how terrible TT were!

Be warned, and learn from our mistakes.

EDIT:

This morning my daughter gets a call from an engineer asking "where are you? I can't find your flat" She explained that the order was cancelled. His response was "Talktalk, that's pretty much par for the course then" Shortly after she was called by TT who wouldn't talk to her because she's not the account holder.
I call back and the order has NOT been cancelled and was now being dealt with by their "back room team" I kid you not!

Be warned, and learn from our mistakes.

Having been with TalkTalk for over a year and constantly having problems with them from speed issues to constant drop outs for about a month calling there tech support is enough to make even the most chilled person want to throw something at a wall.
Not only are the Tech support in India beyond useless who just seem to read from the website, they are also the rudest people you would wish to speak to, constantly I was being spoken over when I was trying to explain my problem, when I asked for my MAC code they refused to give it to me either.

Awful company! cant wait to get away from them! no idea how they are so popular.

I'm actually a Tiscali Customer which was then bought by TT (unfortunately) Before the take over, everything went smooth and nice. Since TT has taken over, I experience constant Disconnects. Now by that I don't mean like every 10-15 minutes. More like every 5 secs, literally! As soon as I have restarted the router, I have a disconnect the next 5 sec.

I've replaced all my hardware, such as filter, cable and router, nothing helped. TT watned to send me an engineer who probably just come and touch few things before charging me 50 Quid, so I rejected that offer.

Also the package I'm on right now is the essential pack, so normal broadband with evening + WE calls.

Apart from the fact that I have to call up Customer Service like every 2-3 days, the funny thing is they don't really address the problem but merely advertise how awesome fibre optic is and try to convince to step up at all cost. They never went straight to the point on the phone, e.g. if my call lasted 30 minutes, 20 minutes would be them telling me how I would benefit from fibre and those disconnects won't happen.

BUT I DON'T NEED FIBRE OPTIC SINCE I HAVENT GOT TOO MUCH TIME TO STREAM MUSIC NOR MOVIES.

My brother has to go to bed early in the morning coz he needs to get up at half 6 in the morning for school and comes home at 6 in the afternoon. He barely got time to do his homework and at this age in time, almost everything is done online. Now you can imagine how furious everyone in the household was and you can't just go to the school and tell the teachers that your internet isn't working if my brother couldn't do his homework.

Next issue: The phone is so noisy in the background, we can barely make calls. No one can understand us and vice versa. Also, in addition to the frequent horrible disconnects, someone uses the phone/calls us, the internet would get disconnected. So that's a double kick in the face..

It's a disgrace really, luckily since I was a tiscali customer we're only on a rolling contract and will be soon switching to another provider (most probably VM)

It's amazing that I've actually managed to put up with this disgusting service for freaking THREE WHOLE YEARS. I obviously can't express my anger towards this company and how badly they have affected me by cutting off my internet, but let me tell you something, I can't wait til I get a new provider. It will be a release like never before.
