 Zen Internet (Broadband Fixed Line)

I migrated to Zen Pro. Which was nothing short of amazing. As I wanted the huge 500gb usage. Speeds were between 16mb to 18.5mb Router synced up to 19mb. which for ADSL2+ is very good. The maximum as I my exchange cannot be upgraded to Fibre. Ping was low at 15-20ms. I was very happy for 2 weeks up until I had a cease order on my phone line from EE our previous provider. Myself & my girlfriend were not informed until Zen suddenly told us we had a `Cease order` on our line! It seemed that although we had migrated our internet & line, apparently our line had been stopped, this meaning no phone line and no Internet! Zen told my girlfriend who was the account holder that it was our fault as we hadn't migrated the phone line as well. So even though we had migrated our internet, the phone line was ending with EE and that was that! So they told us in order for our line to be reactivated we would have to pay £11.99 per month for line rental, £40 for line activation and £12.38 for something else! Excuse me? I've just paid for a month in advance, including the router - £76 in total.

Speaking to several other ISP's about the situation, one of which I have just placed an order with, said the buck lied with EE and not directly Zen. I'm not happy how EE cut our line, nor am I happy with Zen's handing of the issue. Whether it was EE's fault or our own with not having our phone line transferred properly. I don't blame Zen for the line cease order, but I think they could have offered us a better deal to sort it out. Yes, we could have had our phone line with Zen, but I don't think its fair for the customer to have to pay for the huge array of activation fees, I advised my girlfriend to therefore cancel with Zen. I was happier to start my internet with another ISP who are only charging me £25 for activation. Sorry Zen. Better luck next time.

 Sky Broadband (Broadband Fixed Line)

I am one of many who will have been migrated from Be Broadband which was honestly the best ISP I have ever done business with. It's such a shame we have lost another great ISP.

Anyway, as I'm not currently able to afford to migrate somewhere else, I found myself getting migrated to Sky. Going from a 12mbps connection with BE to a 16mbps with Sky. My ping for gaming has gone up from 7ms to 23ms. Speed wise I'm fairly happy, but not when I got an email this week charging me for £45! Normally my bill is around £22/23 mark. I noticed it appeared, according to the bill that I had been charged twice for both my line rental and actual broadband service and the fact I don't have Sky TV. Charging me twice again. Thank you Sky!!!

So I called up the Sky Service center who was nice enough, but when he explained that Sky charge you two months in advance in case you leave!!! WTF?!! I told him I had never ever heard of an ISP doing that sort of disgusting thing in order to force me to stay or force me to leave. I think as far as aggressively making any Ex-BE customers or even Sky customers is absolutely disgusting customer service!!! Once I am able to leave Sky, I will leave! I recommend anyone who has any sense to do the same! Like I said, I've had great speeds, can't fault the service, but the billing account arrangement is terrible! Possibly the worst ISP out there for imposing charges to a customer.

Having been previously with Zen via EE. I have to say I have been extremely surprised how good such an independent ISP was, Surf Anytime. When I spoke to Andy, Martin & Danny, they all sympathized in how my experience with the previous ISP's, when my line was cut by an abrupt cease order. So my phone line was not moved, whether it was my own fault or not. The fact that Surf Anytime has me back online within 5 days! Having been a former IT Support Analyst, I kept checking the router, to see if it was syncing up. I put the order through from May 1st and was online by the 5th May! I'm on the unlimited package with phone line. Its amazing, how good its been since the switch over from Zen. Which I have to say provided a great connection. Zen's handling of the situation could have been much better! Well, as they say, one's loss is another one's gain! Thank you Andy, Martin & Danny. Surf Anytime are definitely one of the best out of the top 10 ISP's in the country. They really care about their customers and they are very good at what they do.

EE Broadband are one of the worst isp's I have ever used. They might be fine for our mobile phones, but not for broadband! They will traffic shape your internet line and downgrade the service from 13mb, to less than 8mb!

My girlfriend wanted to get the mac code to leave the isp as its in her name, and they did nothing but bully her, reading out terms and conditions to her on the phone! Who do you think you are EE?! It is our right if we want to leave, do you know what, not your right?! I asked her to make sure that they email her mac code, as by law as enforced by Ofcom an ISP can be fined or liable to not handing over the mac code.

Shocking, aggressive woman, no need for it! Your job as a support person is to ask questions, take feedback and move on! Chalk it up you lost another customer EE, move on! Your not in the business of providing professional Internet service, leave it to the independent internet providers!
