I've been with PlusNet now for just over 10 months since moving to from Warrington to Shropshire. Originally in Warrington I was on Virgin Media and then I moved to Ludlow.
Unfortunately I have to give the speed a rating of 2 and that isn't because PlusNet are actually bad it's just a massive let down when you come from a house worth £60,000 in Warrington with a Virgin broadband connection at 50mbps to a house in Ludlow probably worth nearly £500,000 (we don't actually know the price because it's housing association, but judging by other houses in the area we're probably not far out), and we go down to 2mbps broadband service, but that is down to BT not bothering to invest in FTTH sooner and trying to patch up it's copper wire as best it can.
I do PC repair in this area though, and I've given PlusNet a 2 because I've seen worse speeds here from BT, I have seen better speeds though from TalkTalk for this area, but am a bit dubious about going over to them after the numerous times TalkTalk have been in the news and featured on BBC's Watchdog.
I give their support 10 out of 10 because recently I discovered there had been billing errors and that I was being overcharged for my internet due to their system error. I left them a support ticket and within a couple of hours they'd phoned me and sorted it all out, and this included a refund of the error from previous months that I hadn't even noticed, which I was very surprised at because I thought I'd have lost the previous months over payments due to not noticing the error.
Value - I can only give them 9 on this because price wise TalkTalk's current offer does appear to beat PlusNet by a couple of £1 - PlusNet - £11.49 per month 40Gb internet + £11.99 per month line rental/phone where as TalkTalk - £10 per month uncapped internet + £9.50 line rental (if 12 months paid up front), but PlusNet do allow a one month rolling contract, where as TalkTalk tie you into a 12 month contract so if something better comes along (like FTTC) your stuck for 12 months. Also TalkTalk's offer is only valid up until the end of November where as PlusNet's offer appears to be ongoing.
