The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has confirmed that it is still assessing the prospect of opening a criminal case against BT following the operator’s secret trials of Phorm in 2006/2007. Phorm controversially worked with UK broadband ISPs ( BT , TalkTalk and Virgin Media ) to develop a system that would monitor what websites you viewed for use in targeted advertising campaigns, though many likened its service to Spyware.

Cable giant Virgin Media UK has reported its latest fourth quarter 2009 results today and revealed plans to roll-out a superfast 100Mbps broadband package by the end of 2010 (prices TBA). The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has upheld two complaints by ISP Sky Broadband (BSkyB) against a direct mailing advert for products from Virgin Media . In the advert, which listed ten reasons why VM was better than Sky, the operator claimed that: "
