London’s Euston Underground Station Gets 4G and 5G Mobile

Transport for London (TfL) – in partnership with Boldyn Networks – today confirmed that Euston station on the Charing Cross branch platforms has today become the latest place on the London Underground to go live with 4G and 5G mobile (mobile broadband) cover, which customers of EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three UK will benefit from.

Ofcom’s 2023 report into UK fixed line home broadband ISP performance – the last one it plans to publish – has today revealed that the average (median) download speed has risen from 59.4Mbps last year to 69.4Mbps now (uploads went from 10.7Mbps to 18.4Mbps). But the gap between rural and urban areas remains.

BT Trials New Liquid Cooling Tech for UK Network Switches

Openreach Name 19 New UK Locations for FTTP Broadband Build

Openreach (BT) has today named the next batch of 19 new locations to benefit from their ongoing roll-out of a new multi-Gigabit capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network, which together will cover around 200,000 extra premises. The new exchanges are all within their existing build areas (i.e. infill and further expansion).

Openreach Complete Build Phase of Wales Full Fibre Contract

The Welsh Government (WG) has released a new update on the £52.5m Phase 2 Superfast Cymru contract with Openreach (BT), which confirms that the “build phase of the contract has now concluded” and a total of 37,497 extra premises (up from 36,869 in Q1) have gained access to their full fibre (FTTP) broadband ISP network.

BDUK Analysis Shows Benefits of UK Phase 3 Superfast Broadband Project

The Government has posted an updated State Aid evaluation of the previous ‘Superfast Broadband Programme’ (UK National Broadband Scheme), which specifically examines the final Phase 3 of the project to extend “superfast” (30Mbps+) coverage – run between 2016 and 2022. Silver Voices Withdraws Support for BT’s Digital Voice Transition UPDATE

5G Download Speeds Have Fallen in 9 out of 12 UK Regions

Internet benchmarking firm Ookla, which operates the popular broadband and mobile network performance testing service Speedtest.net, has revealed that 5G based mobile broadband download speeds have fallen across most regions of the UK over the past year. But despite this, overall data speeds (4G + 5G) have increased.
