UPDATE: Added a statement relating to Tiscali's purchased of Pipex.ISP Tiscali has released its first half (H1) results to 30th June 2007, which has seen the providers broadband subscribers grow from 1,480,000 in Q1-2007 to 1,550,000 in Q2-2007. Broadband services currently account for over 67% of the groups revenues.
However since the last report Tiscali has also acquired
Pipex's broadband customer base too, which last stood at 570,000. Though we would assume 570,000 + 1,550,000 to equal 2,120,000; Tiscali's report instead places the estimated figure as
over 1.9m:
Pipex Communications plc, a major provider of telecommunications and internet solutions including broadband, voice, web hosting and network services, today announces that further to its announcement on 13 July, it has completed the sale of its consumer Broadband and Voice division to Tiscali UK Limited for a total consideration of £210 million, on a debt-free basis, before adjustments.
Pipex was advised on the transaction by UBS Limited and Oakley Capital.
To date Tiscali has unbundled (
LLU) 800 telephone exchanges, which cover 55% of UK households. It also still has a strong dialup customer base of 330,000.
