BT has given its business broadband services a speed boost using 'up to' 8Mbps ADSLMax technology, which can be coupled to a
VoIP enabled router and wireless access point in one unit. We also note an 800Kbps upstream speed:
The new high-speed service, up to four times faster than the maximum speed currently offered by BT Business Broadband, will automatically be provided to new customers. BT will begin contacting existing customers from tomorrow to offer them the opportunity to upgrade to the faster speed.
The Business Broadband Network product has been further improved, in addition to up to 8Mb download speeds, customers could benefit from increased upload speeds of 800Kb and priority traffic routing, ideal for customers running larger networks.
The new BT Business Hub gives customers the freedom to share their internet connection, by wireless or Ethernet around the office. Its high-powered wireless technology virtually eliminates wireless coldspots.
An added bonus is that, with an optional subscription to BT Business Broadband Voice, the hub gives customers the means to make calls over the internet. Connection to Broadband Voice is free; a saving of £40 and rental is from £14.99 a month for three months, and then £19.99*** a month. Broadband Voice gives customers unlimited UK calls**** of up to an hour and fixed to mobile calls for 25p for up to an hour.
The BT Business Hub includes a built-in business-grade firewall to keep the customers network protected at all times. Its Firewall Monitor continuously assesses threats to the customers network and automatically downloads updates to protect against new threats.
The new hub will allow BT to upgrade it remotely with new software when required.
The new higher speed BT Business Broadband will be offered to new customers from May 17, 2006 via http://www.btbroadbandoffice.com .
