The Brightview Group owned ISP Madasafish has announced plans to launch a landline telephone service later this year. We also learn that Invox plc (INX) is changing its name to Madasafish plc, reflecting a refocus on its principal brand:
The ISP, which has seen its base of broadband customers grow by more than 160% to 38,000 over the past 12 months, provides broadband access throughout the UK at speeds up to 8Mb.
The move comes as Madasafish is repositioned as the main focus of Brightview's parent group, Stock Market quoted Invox plc.
It also plans to dispose of its home gaming division to concentrate on the further development of Brightview, the subsidiary which operates madasafish.com and which is now signing up new broadband customers at a record rate.
Including non-broadband users, total subscription customers at the end of April 2006 amounted to over 61,000, up 80% in 12 months.
Brightview will also be launching a voice product later this year.
The home gaming business remains profitable and cash generative, but performed poorly in April, and the company now says results for the year ending on 30 June 2006 are likely to fall short of market expectations. The proceeds of the disposal are likely to take the form of deferred consideration payable over a number of years.http://www.madasafish.com
