Thinkbroadband has come across the ITU's latest global '
Internet Report 2006', which among other things, highlights a median boost in broadband speeds from 256Kbps to over 1.4Mbps.
Prices have also continued to fall, with some halving in the space of less than a year. The following chart illustrates the top 20 countries by broadband subscribers and how much each charges per 100Kbps (average):
The results are certainly interesting and once again highlight just how ridiculously cheap Japan and South Korea can be, although many such services are also subsidised by their government. Elsewhere the UK holds up well against more typical pricing.
Still, Internet addicts probably wouldn’t want to live in Spain, Turkey, Mexico or Australia, you’d go broke quite quickly.
