The Mobile Data Association (MDA) has released its latest WAP (Mobile Phone mini-Internet site) page impression figures for February 2003, which shows a slight gain over January:
The figure for February 2003 is 483m, taking the daily average to 17.25m compared to 17m in January and 13.5m in December.
Februarys figure shows an increasing interest in WAP based services. With Christmas promotions ending in January, customers have shown particular interest in seasonal WAP services relating to Valentines Day, horse racing and betting and football services.
Ringtones, screensavers and downloads still remain the most popular services with demand for games increasing steadily. In the UK today, there are currently over 25m mobile internet enabled handsets.
The MDA has forecast the continued growth of WAP usage throughout 2003, with total impressions expected to hit 8 Billion for the year.
