Northern Ireland is aiming to become the first 'region' in Europe to gain 100% broadband coverage by the end of next year:
The government is keen to promote its take-up, saying use of broadband could produce £4.7bn in productivity and cost savings for small and medium-sized businesses in the UK.
On Monday, Enterprise Minister Ian Pearson said all homes and businesses would have broadband access. BT has been awarded the contract to deliver the services by the end of 2005.While the news is generally good, awarding the whole contract to BT doesn't leave much room for competition. More @
