PIPEX partners with O2 to offer BlackBerry service
PIPEX, the telecom network operator and provider of business broadband solutions, has teamed up with leading mobile phone operator O2 to offer its customers the BlackBerry mobile email device.
The partnership between PIPEX and O2 will allow customers to access their PIPEX email inbox from their BlackBerry handset. Users will be able to read all their emails using the handset, enabling users to pick up their messages wherever they are, subject to network coverage. This offer will be particularly attractive to PIPEXs large and growing base of business and prosumer Broadband customers who rely on the connectivity to stay in the loop.
BlackBerry is a fully integrated wireless communications solution, offering an always-on GPRS connection. Users can open emails and attachments and work on them immediately using a full QWERTY keyboard. The BlackBerry device is also a mobile phone, allowing users to make voice calls, plus the ability to store email addresses and contacts in the BlackBerrys extensive memory.
PIPEX offers its customers a broad range of communications solutions, which can be fully integrated with its other voice and data products. It owns and operates one of the most extensive, secure and resilient communications networks in the UK.
Jeremy Penston, Product Director at PIPEX, comments, The BlackBerry service allows PIPEX to extend the fixed line broadband service to a small, sophisticated, mobile handset.
We realise that our customers are no longer working from an office between 9am and 5.30pm so they need to keep in touch with clients, colleagues and friends while on the move. Customers want a flexible, reliable and secure technology which will facilitate the way they now work. PIPEX customers can now collect their email wherever they are so they are never far from their inbox.
Penston adds, BlackBerry devices have proved very popular in the US over the last few years and O2 have consistently led the market in mobile data communications so the service was a natural one for us to add to our portfolio. O2 is a perfect partner for PIPEX on the release of our first mobile data service we are a leading UK broadband supplier, particularly to high end power users, and we are constantly looking to expand and improve our offerings. We are building our service around the user and their account, which needs to be accessible wherever the user is. O2 shares this vision, cementing a solid partnership which will continue to grow in the future.
The BlackBerry service will be available from PIPEX from June 1st. To register for the service go to http://www.pipex.net/mobile
