The only reason why I had to go with VM is because there were no spare capacity from other LLU ISP in my exchange when I moved in to this flat. And I wasn't up for a BT Total Broadband after hearing many bad reviews about it. When I phoned VM customer support, they informed me that 50Mbps cable was available at my premise and I decided to go with it. BIGGEST MISTAKE
I am currently on their 50Mbps broadband only XXL package. When everything is working, it's great, and you can download a 800MB file in less than 5 minutes. But sadly, that is hardly the case. The service has nothing but pure frustration.
Packet intermittent losses is the norm. This is largely due to their over-utilised local UBR (in layman's term, they cramped so much service into one system that the server is unable to handle too many request from the customer's end). When you report the issue, the only thing the VM staff will tell you is that you are experiencing a high utilisation area and they have reported the issue to the network engineering teams for monitoring. What they don't tell you is when they will fix it, and they never will. Even if they give you a fault number, it's never reliable. When they give you a fix date for the utilisation problem, it's usually a date 3 months after they tell you, and this doesn't count the delay that they may add. In other words, you problem will never be fix.
For the gamers, AVOID! Horrible packet losses!!
For the heavy downloaders, unless you are willing to turn on your computer after midnight for downloads, AVOID!
Worst ISP EVER!
