The latest Q2-2009 McAfee Threat Report reveals that junk email (SPAM) now accounts for a staggering 92% of all email messages. There had been a drop reported during the previous two quarters when several major SPAMMERS were shut down, although as expected this decline didn’t last.

The USA continues to account for the vast majority of this junk (25.5%, down from 35% in Q1), with Brazil (9.8%), Turkey (5.8%), India (5.6%) and Poland (4.9%) following behind. Brazil, Turkey, and Poland saw significant increases as well as sizable increases in total output, while both China and the UK remain outside of the Top 10.
