High Street retailer John Lewis has celebrated the one-year anniversary of its new internet access and home phone service by offering 6 months free broadband and calls when new customers buy any “qualifying internet-enabled product” (e.g. Tablets, Smart TVs, Radios, Cameras and Mobiles with internet capabilities etc.).
John Lewis first entered the consumer broadband market, seemingly supported by PlusNet’s (BT) platform, last year after it replaced the old Waitrose Broadband and Greenbee services. Despite diving into a challenging market the retailer has remained keen to capture a slice of the pie from its established ISP rivals, although to date they have not released any subscriber statistics.

The new When Bought With Broadband promotion, which will run until 18th April 2014, advises customers that have brought one of JL’s internet-enabled products to ensure that they have proof of purchase (product number or web reference number) to hand when ordering their chosen broadband package. The order process will ask for that and customers must also use the promotional code “JLB6” (without speech marks).
