Customers of BT’s Basic Email (Talk 21) service (this was mostly taken alongside older dialup accounts), which was originally due to close on 16th September 2013, have according to the operators FAQ been given an extension to 30th September and will also be able to take one years’ worth of BT Premium Mail (usually priced at £1.60 a month).

The YouView (IPTV) broadband internet based video-on-demand and catch-up TV service, which is being bundled by a number of ISPs (e.g. BT and TalkTalk) in the United Kingdom and can also be purchased separately, has announced a major new £10 million advertising campaign to help promote its ease of use and advantages.

The Fibre GarDen (altnet ISP) project, which aims to build a new fibre optic superfast broadband (30Mbps+) network to help connect homes in Garsdale and Dentdale (Cumbria, England), has now had its application to run an Enterprise Investment Scheme approved by HM Revenue & Customs.

The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and associated record labels (music publishers) are once again attempting to push big broadband ISPs including BT, Virgin Media, Sky Broadband (BSkyB) and TalkTalk into adopting a potentially “unworkable” Voluntary Code of Practice for tackling Internet piracy.

BT Business has extended its 3 months free service offer to their up to 17Mbps capable standalone broadband packages when taken with a 24 month contract. The promotion was previously only available to those who took broadband alongside their line rental and free calls bundle.
