The perceived value that a good broadband ISP connection can add to a house, especially one in a rural area, will always be subject to each individuals own perspective, but few doubt its importance. So spare a thought for the owners of a 3 bedroom house that has gone unsold for 10 years due to poor local connectivity.. and a graveyard.

The communications regulator has given preliminary approval to a proposal by the sibling of Hong Kong telecoms giant PCCW (HKT) and parent to London-based wireless ISP Relish, UK Broadband Limited, which is seeking an indefinite extension to its existing licence for radio spectrum within the 3.4GHz band.

Comparison site Simplifydigital.co.uk has announced the winners of their annual 2014 Customer Choice Awards, which saw all of the biggest broadband ISPs, except BT and EE, win various categories based on their levels of customer satisfaction. But sadly you won’t find any smaller ISPs listed.

UK ISP TalkTalk has unveiled a revamp of the ‘Player’ for their YouView (IPTV) TV based broadband and phone bundles, which ordinarily gives customers access to all the latest blockbuster movies and catch-up content. The enhanced Player includes a series of new features, such as an improved search engine and more of the latest blockbusters to rent from £4.00 for 48hrs.

I did it again” is a well-known song recorded by American pop-star Britney Spears and one that also comes to mind after learning that, very occasionally, some of BTOpenreach’s telecoms engineers will neglect to install a VDSL modem as part of their superfast broadband FTTC Basic Install process.
