Several Internet Service Providers are this morning reporting a number of seemingly related Major Service Outages (MSO) on BT Wholesale’s broadband network, which appears to be causing issues of intermittent Internet connectivity across England’s East Anglia region and some of the surrounding areas (e.g. Norfolk, Suffolk, North Essex).

The next generation of 5G based Mobile Broadband services, which could deliver speeds of up to 10Gbps (Gigabits per second) or more, appeared to come a step closer today after Europe and South Korea signed a new deal that will see both working jointly towards a global definition of the new standard and to cooperate in research.

Sony’s Internet data hungry PlayStation Now (PS Now) service, which uses Gaikai’s video streaming technology to help gamers remote-play video games without having to download them (similar to OnLive), is likely to launch in the United Kingdom first because of its “best in Europe” broadband ISP infrastructure and “strong gaming market“.

Cable operator Virgin Media (Liberty Global) is getting close to announcing the launch of their next SuperHub 3 router (Model VMDG490), which among other things is anticipated to feature the latest 802.11ac spec with support for wireless local network (WLAN) speeds of up to 1300Mbps.
