Virgin Media Claim New 1.3Gbps WiFi SuperHub 2ac Router is the Fastest

Cable operator Virgin Media has today officially launched their new SuperHub 2ac (VMDG490) router, which has been leaking out to customers for quite a few months (here) and includes support for the latest 1300Mbps Gigabit WiFi (802.11ac) standard. According to Virgin’s research, the WiFi is now faster than all of the other big UK ISPs.

BT Signs Deal to Rollout FREE WiFi Around Nottingham City Centre

The Nottingham City Council and BT have today signed a new contract that will see the telecoms operator deploy free public WiFi wireless Internet hotspots across much of the city centre, which should benefit 310,000 residents as well as local businesses and visitors etc.

Ofcom Claims EE Broke their UK Consumer Complaint Handling Rules

The national telecoms regulator, Ofcom, has concluded a yearlong probe into EE’s (also trading as Orange UK and T-Mobile) handling of consumer complaints and found that “there are reasonable grounds for believing” that the operator broke its rules (General Condition 14.4).

BT Extends “Fibre Broadband” Rollout Contract with Emtelle to 2019

In an unsurprising move BT has agreed to extend their contract with the Scotland-based Emtelle Group, which manufactures cable duct (plastic piping that encases underground fibre optic cables) as well as sub-duct and blown fibre products at its two plants in Hawick and Jedburgh, for another four years until 2019.
