BT and Huawei in New UK Trial of 40Gbps Ultrafast FTTP Broadband

Openreach (BT) and Huawei have today claimed to be the “first companies in Europe” to trial three new ultrafast fibre optic broadband technologies, including 40Gbps (Gigabits per second) capable NG-PON2, 10Gbps XGS-PON and 2.5Gbps GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) over a single fibre.

West Sussex UK Opens Broadband Voucher Scheme for Businesses

Small and medium sized businesses in West Sussex (England) are being invited to apply for a new voucher scheme, which offers a subsidy of between £1,000 and £3,000 to help local firms get a superfast broadband (30Mbps+) connection installed.

There’s No Standard for 5G Mobile Yet, But Qualcomm Has a Modem

We don’t yet have a solid standard for the future 5G based Mobile Broadband tech and nor do we know precisely what radio spectrum it will use, but that hasn’t stopped Qualcomm Technologies from launching one of the first ever 5G modems (Snapdragon X50). Speeds of up to 5Gbps are promised.

New nbn XG.Fast Broadband Tech Trial Delivers 8Gbps via Copper Lines

A new trial of the future XG.FAST technology, which could one day replace Openreach’s forthcoming G.fast based ultrafast broadband service, has beaten last year’s BT trial by pushing a peak aggregate speed of 8000Mbps over 30 metres of twisted-pair copper (BT achieved 5.6Gbps at a similar distance).
