Engineers working for Network Rail have damaged a mass of BTOpenreach’s cable ducts near Uxbridge (West London) because they “were not highlighted in the thorough surveys we carried out prior to the work.” As a result broadband and phone services in the area, including West Drayton, are suffering a major outage.

The International Telecommunication Union, specifically ITU-T Study Group 15, has doubled the best speeds achievable via the new G.fast broadband standard to 2Gbps and added support for coaxial cable. Openreach (BT) are due to begin the commercial UK roll-out of this service in late 2017.

The CEO of Sky UK and Ireland (Sky Broadband), Stephen van Rooyen, has confirmed that existing customers who are interested in taking their forthcoming Sky Mobile plans will be able to register their interest from 31st October 2016.
