The Government has today launched a new ‘Call for Evidence’, which seeks to gather feedback on the “best use of public funding” to encourage further and faster UK deployment of “full fibre” (FTTP/H) style ultrafast / Gigabit-capable broadband networks in partnership with local areas.

Cable operator Virgin Media has informed ISPreview.co.uk that 25.76 million devices (e.g. Internet-connected TVs, Tablets and Smartphones) were used across 4,952,236 active broadband connections via their network during Christmas Day (up 8% on 2015), which occurred between 5pm and 10pm.

Netflix UK’s most recent ISP Speed Index update, which measures the popular Internet Movie and TV service’s video streaming performance on different broadband providers, has one again named Virgin Media as the fastest provider for their service in 2016; but it’s not that important to be top.
