Property developer Redrow has signed a new partnership with Openreach (BT) that will result in 3,000 properties on 14 existing developments being upgraded from ADSL to receive speeds of ‘up to’ 80Mbps via Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC / VDSL2) tech. New builds can also expect to receive “full fibre” FTTP.

The UK Internet domain registry, Nominet, has again joined forces with Broadway Partners to deploy their long range “TV White Space” wireless superfast broadband technology, which utilises the gaps in radio spectrum that exist between Television channels (470-790MHz), to reach Loch Ness in Scotland.

A new study has examined the price of fixed line broadband in 196 countries via 3,351 packages (conducted between 18th August and 12th October 2017), which reveals that the United Kingdom is only the 63rd cheapest (average of USD $40.62 a month overall or $1.01 per megabit of speed).

The Post Office has introduced a Black Friday bonus to their existing UK unlimited broadband and phone price reductions, which gives new customers a £30 account credit (available on orders made until 27th November). The downside is that you can only get this on their ‘up to’ 17Mbps package.

Urban fibre optic network builder and ISP Hyperoptic, which is deploying their FTTP/B ultrafast 1Gbps capable broadband network around parts of 28 cities and towns, has today boasted of working with 100 developers in the United Kingdom (e.g. Barratt London, Berkeley Homes, Crest Nicholson etc.).

A further 150 businesses in the South Fengate part of Peterborough (Cambridgeshire, UK) can now access a 1Gbps capable connection, which comes after Cityfibre completed the 4km extension of their existing c.120km fibre optic Ethernet and broadband network in the cathedral city.

Poole-based ISP Juice Broadband has announced that their fibre optic fed Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) broadband network has expanded the coverage of their 50Mbps capable service to new areas in East Dorset and West Hampshire, from a tower on St Catherines Hill near Christchurch.
